How do I know? My hubby was the administrator for 4 doctors and they all have to do it that way. So if government would butt out the charges may go to a realistic level.

I would like it to be---you got this treatment---then you pay this much. Level across all boards like a receipt from a store. That way we could really compare one health place against another.

Right now I had a mole removed. Did I go back to my dermatologist? NO, I had my internist do it this time and she will charge less than a specialist. We all have choices in our medical care---will that remain the same with this health care bill? That is to be seen and I doubt it very much when our government can mess up so much.

Not true! My doc didn't even accept Medicare when we sat down and figured prices. I helped my doctor set up what he would be charging for office visits, procedure etc. So that might have been the way your DH docs did it but not all do it that way.
