BOISE -- The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a magnitude 4.9 earthquake shook just 15 kilometers north of Challis, just after 6 p.m. Saturday. This is the largest quake to hit Idaho in nearly a decade and the second earthquake in less than a week.
Nearly 100 people from Helena, Mont. all the way to Boise reported feeling the quake on the USGS website. The Custer County Sheriff's Office says several people called them to report the shaking but there were no known injuries or major damage.
Challis was also hit with a magnitude 4.1 earthquake early Thursday morning.
