Why he gave back the bust of Winston Churchill? I dont see why it didnt go in a musuem. It was part of our history since 911. What gave Obama the right to decided what we want to keep. People claim with Bush, we lost allies in the world. So we are sucking up to Russia and insulting Britian with Obama. Why didnt the Clintons help Obama with gift ideas? They knew what to expect.

It appears that Michele Obama hates the British and blames them for slavery.
Well that's a long time to hold a grudge and if it hadn't been for slavery maybe Michele would be living in a jungle somewhere. It would be nice if she could let go of her extreme hatred for white people once in awhile.

It appears that Barack Obama prefers the Muslim countries.
Especially the ones that are run like dictatorships.

We got ourselves in a heck of a jam.

Great way to make friends with other countries BHO! Will they apologize, probably not. Will they apologize to Muslim Extremists that want to kill us? Already have...
It's getting more obvious that Obama is Muslem and a Marxist and we are paying the price for those that voted and didn't do their homework. We warned people about how radical Obama was and in return we were called racists, as it turns out the Obama's are the racists.

LOL, Obama gave the bust of Churchill back to England??? Oh man, the English should put it in a museum and a plaque under it saying, Given back to England by president Obama because he didn't want it in the White House."

That was worse then the tacky gifts.

I wonder when he plans on sending the Statue of Liberty back to France.
He had no right to send the bust of Churchill back.
It was a gift to the American people.
It was symbolic of how Britain and the US have become close allies.

    It was on loan.

Barack Obama sends bust of Winston Churchill on its way back to Britain
Barack Obama has sent Sir Winston Churchill packing and pulse rates soaring among anxious British diplomats.

A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government's art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.

The bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds if it were ever sold on the open market, enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush's tenure.

But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks."

Diplomats were at first reluctant to discuss the whereabouts of the Churchill bronze, after its ejection from the seat of American power. But the British Embassy in Washington has now confirmed that it sits in the palatial residence of ambassador Sir Nigel Sheinwald, just down the road from Vice President Joe Biden's official residence. It is not clear whether the ambassador plans to keep it in Washington or send it back to London.

American politicians have made quoting Churchill, whose mother was American, something of an art form, but not Mr Obama, who prefers to cite the words and works of his hero Abraham Lincoln. Indeed a bust of Mr Lincoln now sits in the Oval Office where Epstein's Churchill once ruled the roost.

Churchill has less happy connotations for Mr Obama than those American politicians who celebrate his wartime leadership. It was during Churchill's second premiership that Britain suppressed Kenya's Mau Mau rebellion. Among Kenyans allegedly tortured by the colonial regime included one Hussein Onyango Obama, the President's grandfather.

The rejection of the bust has left some British officials nervously reading the runes to see how much influence the UK can wield with the new regime in Washington.

Now it is likely that Gordon Brown will offer a alternative symbol of Anglo-American fealty when he visits Washington to meet Mr Obama for the first time since he became President. Diplomats are still working to finalise a date for the visit which is expected in the final week of this month or early in March.

One suggestion, given Mr Obama's interest in the Lincoln era, is that Mr Brown should offer an artefact relating to the career of John Bright, the 19th Century MP and political reformer who became the most prominent British supporter of Lincoln's Union forces during the American Civil War.

A British Embassy spokesman said: "The bust of Sir Winston Churchill by Sir Jacob Epstein was uniquely lent to a foreign head of state, President George W Bush, from the Government Art Collection in the wake of 9/11 as a signal of the strong transatlantic relationship.

"It was lent for the first term of office of President Bush. When the President was elected for his second and final term, the loan was extended until January 2009.

"The new President has decided not to continue this loan and the bust has now been returned. It is on display at the Ambassador's Residence."

Sounds like the Hatfields and the McCoys. A feud starting. Wouldn't it have been better to let the State Department quietly return it then make a big deal returning it when the Prime Minister was here?

Why haven't the Obama's made a big deal about Lincoln owning slaves at one time?

I wonder what the Obama's will do with the first edition copy of Churchill's biography.

All of those things that the Obama's are so resentful of happened a long time ago. I guess the Obama's are good at one thing, they really know how to hold a grudge.

I think the UK should return the DVD's to Amazon and put the bust on their DVD player.

I wonder why Obama identifies so much with his father's side of his family.
It seems like his father deserted them and didn't bother to contact him.
In other words he didn't give a darn about him.

Lincoln also felt that the freed slaves should set up a separate colony somewhere else. It seems like the racial problems that were solved so many years ago are now going to re appear. I've heard words used recently that I've never heard before. It seems like the racism has just changed to the black people hating the white people. It seems like there are many preachers like Rev. Wright who are spreading hate.

Obama has had many black men as mentors starting when he was a child. When he was growing up in Hawaii there was a black man who was very radical, almost a Communist, then there is Rev. Wright.
