Angry My DH should wear a name tag that says Hello my name is : &*(^!

Okay, long story short... or maybe not because I'm heated. As many of you know, I work in Collections. I can be called an "evil collector" and it wouldn't phase me... I am so used to previous employers where I can be a royal pain the ass, well not here. Okay, its hard to teach an old dog new tricks but I'm trying... well, unfortunately yesterday, one of my Operations Managers heard a REALLY bad, obnoxious call. I own it. I was a royal ass hat. So bad that they pulled me in the office and put me on what they call "Decision Day". That means I got sent home with pay, and had to write a letter of committment about how I am going to fix this situation, etc, etc., accepting owner ship and consequences. Okay, that's not why I'm pissed... I did it, I accept it.
The reason I'm pissed is because my so called support system is a bunch of flipping assclowns. Mom gave the typical "I told you, you have a bad attitude" speech and basically told me I deserve what I get... "Gee, thanks Mom." Not even my Father is that rude. And then we get to John...
Because he just oh so freaking stellar at quality in CUSTOMER SERVICE (!!!), APPARENTLY HE is the authority on it... and he gives me this big ass speech on how he told me so, I have to bow down to the OM and UM (unit managers) and I need to be more humble, etc etc etc. No support what so ever. He has not heard me ONCE on the phone and yet I'm this horrible collector. I countered back with well if I'm THAT bad why didn't they just fire me, why? I'll tell you why... because they can't AFFORD to fire me... I am one of the teams top collectors, I make them money every day.
Now Aaron (my UM) and Claudia (the OM) BOTH told me that they have faith I can turn it around...and gave a LOT of POSITIVE feedback today... but John... PFFT. I went to tell him that it was actually a POSITIVE meeting today and that they feel like I am still an asset...and he launches into another speech about how I need to eat crow and be more humble still and that he doesn't think that Aaron made the right decision to let me qualify for the Dec. contest...because I don't "deserve it". EXCUSE ME? I already had to put my job on the line, I lost out on about $600 in bonus money and NOW you think I don't deserve to be rewarded for the money I make the company...this contest has NOTHING to do with quality.
I ACCEPTED ownership and he still thinks I'm too cocky. WTF. This whole "headset" gig, where he's higher than a manager has gone to his head in a big way and I feel like he acts like I am one of his Reps.
I've expressed to him how I feel and he lectures me on that...that I shouldn't feel that way, that he is on my side... Bull Freaking Crapola.
    I'm so over this...

One of the reasons i could never work in the same building/dept type(i see cust srv and collections as same thing pretty much both deal with customers in some way shape or form) as my S/O. When i was at comcast i was at the escalations desk and Jon was in engineering so our job functions were so different neither of us would dare to tell each other how to do their job.

Honestly i don't know what to tell you on this one, it's a sticky situation.
You, yes you, lemme see YOU walk on water!!

    Wink

Well one thing I can say about John is he is a very humble man. And he realized how much he upset me tonight, so he apologized and has become much more supportive about it. I explained to him that I've talked to Aaron 3 times 1 on 1 about this situation... and Aaron gave me a better perspective on everything.

I think John means well but you're right it's so hard to do this when we work such different jobs.

It is what it is... and hopefully I learn how to keep my damn mouth shut.

    Sorry but John is right.

With the job market the way it is today nobody is an asset anymore. You should count yourself lucky that you even have a job. There are at least a dozen other people that have probably applied for your job and are qualified to do it. If acting a bit more humble helps keep your job then I would shut up and take the pwnage. Because you my dear are easily replaceable. Especially in the collections business..

I don't know what you did and whether you deserved the disciplinary action from work. However, what angers me most about the situation is John telling you that you are wrong to feel the way you do is just plain bullpucky!!!

Feelings aren't right or wrong...they just are! How dare he tell you that your feelings are wrong! It isn't up to him or anyone else how you should feel! How you should respond or react to your feelings are a different matter...but how you feel is personal to you alone!
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

Man I don't know what to say here about this since I have been on both ends of this. Some of you collectors are absolutely HORRIBLE.
My idenity was stolen & I had this jerk call me at work telling m that they were going to take my house away from me over a credit card I NEVER opened up.
Then at my job, I hate, hate HATE having to call a customer & tell them their invoice is wayyyy past due. I tend to send warning letters BEFORE I ever call anyone.
OTOH, your dh should have your back 100% of the time whether you are right or totally wrong.

I don't get collection calls.... but if I did, and I got one from you acting and being mouthy liked the way you said you did, I would be pissed and turn you in.
Also, obviously you did something wrong, or else you wouldn't have gotten in trouble for it.
Also, perhaps you DH realizes how easily you fly off the handle??

It is what it is... and hopefully I learn how to keep my damn mouth shut

    Talking

Okay did you all miss the part where I said I agree what I did was wrong??? I'm pretty sure I wrote that. And NO ONE turned me in... it was a quality monitoring, the guy was argumentative and verbally combative (maybe his wife is a member here...) and I had enough so I in so many words told him that if he didn't want to my help, I couldn't help him. And apparently the fact that he has been out of work for a year is my fault personally, and the fact that he hasn't gotten a statement yet is someone how our fault. Oh and according to the caller it's somehow my fault that Obama has let us down as consumers and that we as a bank got a huge bailout so we should be more forgiving. Yeah well, we have to pay that money back as well and if more people like him PAID his bill then we could pay ours.

And for the record both Aaron and Claudia stated it was NOT typical of me to fly off the handle like that, and that is why they didn't fire me. They said from listening to other quality monitorings that they KNOW that's not me...I just got the wrong button pushed. I am consistently in the top 10 on my team for collecting money... and I am consistently right there with people who have been there for YEARS...I've been there 6 months. So, yes I AM a huge asset to them and truth be told, most people who apply for Citigroup (I work for the bank) do NOT get hired...or if they do, usually only 1/2 the class makes it through all of training. I started in June, out of 14 people only 4 of us are left on the floor. I'm not an OUTBOUND Rep, these are people returning our calls. And maybe Third Party Collectors are a dime a dozen, but I don't work for a Third Party Vendor.

The only advice I could give someone working in that type of job is kill them with kindness.
