Glad that you're feeling a bit better

Here's more info on Social Security
Social Security pays benefits to people who cannot work because they have a medical condition that is expected to last at least one year or result in death. Federal law requires this very strict definition of disability. While some programs give money to people with partial disability or short-term disability, Social Security does not.

Certain family members of disabled workers also can receive money from Social Security. This is explained in "Can my family get benefits?"

How do I meet the earnings requirement for disability benefits?
In general, to get disability benefits, you must meet two different earnings tests:

A “recent work” test based on your age at the time you became disabled; and
A “duration of work” test to show that you worked long enough under Social Security.
Certain blind workers have to meet only the “duration of work” test.

    well that sucks
sadly you pick the losers to procreate with them.
and your latest man is not a great catch either.

I don't think you should put up with junk like that. My SIL is a lazy person complains she has no money has a 16 year who works at mickey D's and she takes 1/2 her paycheck to pay for her smokes and toilettries (as she put it) SIL would work, excuse after b.s. can't keep a job 1 month and no matter how much I tried to teach her my stay at home job she is too dumb to turn on computer.
lots of work at home jobs available.
or even watching just or 1 or 2 other kids in your home for $50 to $100 a week is good money

Yep, I did pick losers to have kids most definitely with but my current dh rocks. I don't know where you got that he isn't a great catch? I mean asking me if I want money every week is an insult to my ego yeah , but ,he doesn't expect me to work.. He also doesn't understand the complexities of fibromyalgia but he tries...

Nope , I am not the babysitter type.. Some people were made for daycare work.. I am not. Not even close....Especially with the fibromyalgia..

Yes you are right, but it is not just a "hey I need it and they give it to you" It is a humiliating and very very time lengthy process. Its hard. I know you didn't say it was "easy", I am just saying, in some cases it worth it to try and make it without having to apply for disability, and use getting disability as a last resort.

ElleGee, I am sorry you are feeling down, I too have fibro, I feel for you. It is hard. I hate to talk about it becuase people still seem to not understand and I feel like they don't believe me because I "look" ok. I also do not want to use my fibro as an excuse. I am not saying you do... I am always using excuses and so I try not to use that as one. If that makes any sense. LOL And I just don't want people to judge me so I am not comfortable talking about it, but I am learning thats not such a good thing. So I wanted to also thank you for sharing your troubles. I respect you and you sharing you having fibro makes me more comfortable sharing me having it. I truly hope you feel better and things level out for you soon.

I'm so sorry and hope you are feeling better. Fibro sucks. My best friend had it...with a couple other autoimmune diseases including diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. Yes, exercising supposedly helps. But she would be laid up in bed whenever she even tried to do anything. She died last year at the age of 56 and I miss her terribly. Where do you get a BFF when you are 57 years old?
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.
