The laws should be fair for EVERYONE. And to me, that means anyone can marry and have ins. legal rights etc. I don't think that is forcing anyone to accept. I'm not trying to change how you believe, you still have to the right to believe that it is wrong. I think alot of laws are wrong.
You don't have to BELIEVE in everything someone does, but TOLERATING it seems to be a good choice for me.

i know, i said i wasn't going to debate but consider this:
what i feel is most important is highlighted in bold. this affects the greater of society. forget about how it affects YOU personally (not aimed at you hippie, but everyone who says "why do i care what joe blow..[no pun intended] does with joe black in the bedroom?) BUT what it is doing doing our society.
HIV/AIDS and Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM)
Various young men in social setting. The term men who have sex with men (MSM) refers to all men who have sex with other men, regardless of how they identify themselves (gay, bisexual, or heterosexual). In the United States, HIV and AIDS have had a tremendous impact on MSM. Consider these facts:
* AIDS has been diagnosed for more than half a million MSM. Over 300,000 MSM with AIDS have died since the beginning of the epidemic.
*
* MSM made up more than two thirds (68%of all men living with HIV in 2005, even though only about 5% to 7% of men in the United States reported having sex with other men. In a 2005 study of 5 large US cities, 46% of African American MSM were HIV-postitive.
Since HIV/AIDS in MSM was first diagnosed 1981, gay and bisexual men have been leaders in dealing with the challenges of the epidemic. Gay organizations and activists, through their work, have contributed greatly to many of the guidelines for prevention, treatment, and the care of people living with HIV/AIDS.
For complex reasons, HIV/AIDS continues to take a high toll on the MSM population. For example, the number of new HIV/AIDS cases among MSM in 2005 was 11% more than the number of cases in 2001. It is unclear whether this increase is due to more testing, which results in more diagnoses, or to an increase in the number of HIV infections. Whatever the reasons, in 2005, MSM still accounted for about 53% of all new HIV/AIDS cases and 71% of cases in male adults and adolescents.

I have to agree with NJean on the tolerance thing. What all are we willing to tolerate? How much is too much before our society as a whole begins to crumble. Kind of like with a telling a little white lie and then having to tell another to cover for that one and then tell another....so on and so on.
Please, don't get me wrong. I am not a homophobe and hate gay people, far from it, and I am NOT bashing homosexuals, just stating an opinion. You can only use the "if it makes you happy" thing so much before there have to be limits.

My limits with the whole "if it makes you happy' thing is that when it begins to hurt others or infringe on the rights of others and I really don't see same sex marriage as doing that.

What I get from this is just this, we need to educate gay men on having SAFE sex. Not stop them from having sex. It doesnt affect *you* (general you) in any way if two guys have sex.
I cant tell from walking down the street who's house has gay people living in it.
We are talking about two peoples LIVES here. Their entire LIFE! How is it fair for anyone to tell someone "I shouldnt have to accept you because you choose to love a man".
Heres a thought to ponder upon, who would you rather have living next to you? Two gay people or a religious family?
