    That's my answer too!

    Yay! A change in subject!

Personally, I think most (not all) people are better off settled down with someone to provide an anchor/center to their lives. It could be a spouse, a "partner", or a child. If someone wants to love and take care of someone, pay medical insurance for them, and possibly keep them off of welfare or Medicaid and charity (in case they get sick or something), then great! So absolutely, I believe in gay marriage!

As for people who point to the Bible, I say that I follow what Jesus said about homosexuals ---- nothing! He did, however, point out how we shouldn't judge one another and how love is the most important thing. As for the Old Testament, I don't follow that because it has stuff about how you should treat your slaves, and how you should stone to death people who wear fabrics of mixed fibers (cotton/poly, anyone?) or people of mixed tribes. (We've got European, Asian, Mid-Eastern and possibly some Native American mixed into my family.) I'm a CHRISTian, not an Old Testamentian.

People can marry whatever they want to marry...They can marry a blow-up doll for all I care. It's their life, their choices, not mine.
Don't worry about what people think. They don't do it very often.

ITA, I don't care what other people do, it's their business, not mine.

I'm going to further instigate this topic by responding to the below quote... but before I do, I want it known that I have no problem w/ civil unions for gay individuals. I do NOT believe they should be allowed to stand before God and profess their love for Him and one another. However, a union that protects them and their children from family members who do not give a rats ass about the person they choose to spend their life w/... I'm all for that.

    Romans 1:26-27 (New International Version)
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

    (a different translation)

Romans 1:26-27 (New King James Version)
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

1 Corinthians 6:9 (New International Version)
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders

    (in another translation)

1 Corinthians 6:9 (New King James Version)
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites,

    1 Timothy 1
    Greeting
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,

2 To Timothy, a true son in the faith:

Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
    No Other Doctrine

3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. 5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, 6 from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, 7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.
8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, 9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, 11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust.

~~Just because someone (not just you, lots of ppl) doesn't LIKE what's in the Old Testament doesn't mean that it's ok to just ignore it. It's awe inspired for God, so you can't accept one and not another.~~

I wasn't going to post on this subject because I know that there will be hurt feelings. And that is not what I want. Everyone is entitled to thier opinion and my is against gay marriages. I do have gay friends and family members but I just don't agree with it. I do not argue over politics, religion or ones personal behavior. I have my opinions and beliefs and would not try to push them on anyone else. I'm not perfect and am the first to admit it. I do know that God loves everyone of us.

Hmmm I guess I don't understand why one should care what other people do? And who they love? It's none of my business what makes someone else happy and far be it from me to tell them how to live their life and who to spend it with. Corinna please know I'm not picking on you, but I love when ppl say that they have gay friends and family but don't believe in gay marriage... I'm assuming all of those who do, love those friends and family members very much, but you seriously want to deny and or look down on them for something that might make them very happy and allow them to be their true self. Just b/c one gets married doesn't mean they have to get married in a church by a priest, pastor, etc. in front of "god" there's always the justice of the peace and a court house or other local. I guess I just don't see marriage all that sacred where it should JUST be between a man and a woman..hell there's a 50% divorce rate as is, obviously some, not all, of those who enter into marriage don't take it seriously. I feel that there should be equal rights for everyone, not those who fall into a cookie cutter mold made up by some old guy. I also love how everyone's so quick to bring up the Bible and how someone's going against it when their views don't agree... can you honestly say that you follow that book to a "T" and never ever do anything that supposedly would be against "god"? Of course these are JMHOs
