Creepy Neighbors And Slumlord
Sometimes I think if I don't get outta here I gonna go insane. Downstairs they play knock at each others door 50 times a day at least. Only two apartments. Then today the one girl was making what I would call sexual sounds in the hall. Even the other neighbor questioned what the heck she was making those noises for. She has a twenty five year old boyfriend and she is eighteen. He feeds her booze and God knows what else. Slumlord has the electric shut off in the hallway. Called up the electric company today because he said it was gonna be turned on in a couple of days. Nope doesn't look like it's getting turned back on. Have to carry a flashlight. They told me it's a confidentiality thing and they can't discuss it with me. People leave the front door open when it's raining and snowing. I just give up! For me I can't afford to move and I wouldn't want to in the winter. Oh too someone stole piping out of the basement. That was probably the only reason landlord showed up. He probably made an insurance claim.

I feel for you I think I'd be scared to live there with whats going on. I hope you can find a good place thats within your budget or they straighten this one out for you. I think some landlords don't care about anything but making money. They don't even try to make the place decent to live in.

That's terrible! Can't you report the slumlord?I don't know who to report it to,but I know he can get in trouble.Sorry you have to deal with this.

Wow.. Good Luck, that sounds like HELL.
Rudeness is the weak person's imitation of strength.

Thanks! I heard he is tied in with police so alot of good that would do. Not saying all police are bad. Just seems to be alot in my area that are not good. Seen neighbor opening up packages of copper or something and putting them into a basket. He was parked on the front lawn. He was working for a pool company. So apparently he stole stuff I would say is my best guess. Just think this whole world around me has gone nuts!

I am sorry that you are having to live under those conditions. It is so not right how slumlords operate. Maybe you could call the news on them. The stations here have people that go out and confront them to try to get the problems fixed. Good luck.

Great idea!My local news now is going after child-molesters,so that would be great to let the news know what is going on.

It's not the police you report him to. It's the housing authority and they have the power to fine him big time if he doesn't comply with the law. It would be the state dealing with him not the local law enforcement.
I feel for you. I really do. I have a slumlord also but I put up with it because the rent and area are really good. Apartments around here rent at $800 for a 1 bedroom and we're renting a 3 bedroom house for $450.
I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.

Also why I don't complain. I live in a one bedroom and my rent is 325. Cheapest rent around here. Yes the area too here is good normally. I just think tenants take advantage. Stealing stuff out of the basement for a second time. First copper wiring and now plumbing. I can normally put up with their parties but it has gone outta control. Listening to the girl in the hall today making sexual sounds for fun was yuck to me! She did it several times today. She is only 18 years old.

I just looked again at your family picture with you and your hubby and your beautiful kids and none of my business, but what state do you live in? $325 a month is a bargain, but the fear and garbage like no lights in the hallway is not acceptable. I wish you good luck and the one poster who suggested call your local news station usually works because I see many of these stories on my 5PM news channel. Good luck to you and your family.

Instead of the local police maybe you should call the County or State office, giving that girl booze at her age is illegal and he should go to jail.
Taking copper wiring out of the basement, couldn't that cause a short which could cause a fire? And the plumbing, you could wind up without water one of these days.
I am so sorry for your situation, this should never happen, slumlords should be lined up and shot for the way they make people live.
Been there, growing up, the people who would move in and out, the smell, the bugs, the noise, I feel for you from the bottom of my heart.
Keep your hands to yourself, leave other people's things alone, and be kind to one another.
