no one is coming to my sons graduation
not any of his grandparents. not my youngest sons dad, who lived with us for 5 years, not my sister, not anyone.
i know he's been a pain, but my dad doesn't feel like it. not sure why mom's not coming, my youngest sons dad says its the price of gas, but he sure runs any other time he wants. and my sister had to go to her sons half sister's graduation. how rediculous is that. that childs dad (her son's dad) is remarried and i'm sure she's not even wanted there.
I know my son has been a royal pain this last year, and its only his 8th grade graduation, but this is just wrong in my opinion. I feel so bad for him.
we leave in about 30 minutes. this is just wrong.
Oh well thanks for letting me vent.

Re: no one is coming to my sons graduation
You know what MsLynn? He knows his Mom is there for him. You and those boys have stuck together through hell and high water, he knows who he can depend on and who he can't. I know it makes you angry and it hurts your feelings, but let it go... your son knows who cares and that is all that matters.

Re: no one is coming to my sons graduation
Lynn I am so sorry. You're right, it is wrong for famliy to not be there for him. The "price of gas" excuse takes the cake
But Andrea is right too, he knows that he can count on you.
I hope you both are having a good time. Tell him I said Congratulations!

Re: no one is coming to my sons graduation
Same thign happened with us years ago. No one from hubbys side came to my oldest baptism or first b'day. We went to everything and brought very nice gifts. So we stopped inviting and planning parties. Spending money we really did not have to spend on people who went to Bingo instead etc. So we plan really great family parties that are just us and my sis. When my kids graduated 8th grade we had a blast and gave them $100. When they graduated high school we had a party with their friends and gave them cash. Now that my oldest is graduating college, we bought him a laptop and we'll have a great time at one of his favorite restaurants. Now hubbys family wants to be included. So sorry, we cannot be bothered.

Re: no one is coming to my sons graduation
There's always one person who I wanted to be at my graduation and that was my mom. I didn't need the whole family to be there because I only wanted to make one person proud. If you're that person, then he is all you need.

Re: no one is coming to my sons graduation
same thing happed to me when I graduated college. My dad promised to be there and never showed up...and had a lame excuse to boot.
But just as I was about to recieve my degree my favorite aunt and uncle showed up in time.
Suck when family butts out though.

Re: no one is coming to my sons graduation
Your son knows he is loved by you and you are the most important person to him. Be proud, don't be sad and don't let him know you feel sad. Enjoy his graduation.
