Government fines for no health insurance
In to days paper they had an article about health insurance. It says the government is going to fine people who do not have health insurance. You can get insurance from your employer, pay for it yourself or get on a program like Public aid but for those that have none they want to fine you. How can they do that. Hubby is out of work, we cannot afford to pay it out of pocket and do not qualify for public assistance. So they will fine me. What a joke.

Re: Government fines for no health insurance
thats just crazy. People that dont have insurace...like myself, cannot afford it. Lots of employers dont offer insurance and has anyone ever priced insurance. Its nearly $500 a month for my family ( 6 kids 2 adults) My husband is self employed and we cannot afford insurance.
How are people going to be able to pay this " fine" if they cannot pay for insurance? THIS WORLD HAS GONE CRAZY

Re: Government fines for no health insurance
I'd like to see them try and fine us. If we can't afford insurance, we definitely can't afford a fine! lol My job does not offer insurance at all, and Adam's job...well...let's just put it this way, one of the women he works with has insurance thru work for her, her child and her husband...out of pocket they spend $1200 per MONTH. So...for our family of 4, that's just not happening...

Re: Government fines for no health insurance
well, if they want money from me, they can stand in line! I make $374.00 a week. I have "pre-existing conditions" that make my thru work insurance payment $782.00 A MONTH!!!If I EVER see Bush, I am going to run up behind him and push him down.
Sometimes, the good you do doesn't do you any good.

Re: Government fines for no health insurance
Nope.... it won't go. In Oklahoma, just because you are poor and qualify for public assistance, does not mean you qualify for medical assistance. You have to be elderly, under 18 or disabled (as deemed by social security). So there would be no way for the government to fine someone if they don't qualify for state medical care.

Massachussetts has gone the furthest on this wacko idea so far but at least 20 states are working on trying to pass somethin like it.

Re: Government fines for no health insurance
Everyone will be fined except the illegal immigrants.... they get the finest healthcare the United States has to offer, at the taxpayers expense. For years I have been "in between". I can't afford health insurance, yet I make too much to get public aid. Yet I've seen a waiting room full of illegal immigrants at the public aid office get qualified for healthcare and food stamps. It's humiliating enough to apply and get turned down, but to walk away and see illegal immigrants get approved....it leaves me speechless. Let the government try to fine me for not having insurance. You can't get blood from a turnip, right?
