Have you heard about the "new twist" on Survivor ?

The CBS reality game show has spoofed itself with its new plan to divide contestants by race announced yesterday: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...082300909.html

Race will matter on the upcoming season of the CBS show as contestants will be divided into four tribes by ethnicity. That means blacks, whites, Latinos and Asians in separate groups.

The announcement was made on CBS' Early Show. Host Jeff Probst says the idea "actually came from the criticism that 'Survivor' was not ethnically diverse enough." He says the twist fits in perfectly with what "Survivor" does, saying the show is "a social experiment. And this is adding another layer to that experiment."

And the media wonders why there is still a race "issue"-they are almost 100% of the problem.

'Survivor' was not ethnically diverse enough.
That is one assinine and totally lameass comment-diversity, you IDIOT-NOT segregation

I don't think it is all that big a deal. As people we tend to group together anyway hence the terms, China Town, Little Italy, etc. I think it may be an interesting twist.

I did find it curious though, that while watching the cable news regarding this new development, the black gentleman said that as blacks, they identify with being black, all the time, he felt it would be the whites who would have a problem. Maybe it is because if you are a minority it is ok to be proud of you ethnicity but if you are white and proud you are a racist. I think it will be interesting for sure.

I think the harder we work on race relations the further apart we become. Why can we not just be people. Why does race, gender and religion have to become issues? We all really want the same things. We all are basicly the same.

NYC Officials Want New 'Survivor' Pulled
    Aug 24, 9:54 PM (ET)

    By SARA KUGLER

NEW YORK (AP) - As CBS prepares to launch a new season of the hit reality show "Survivor," this time featuring teams divided by race, enraged city officials are saying it promotes divisiveness and are calling for the network to reconsider.

"The idea of having a battle of the races is preposterous," City Councilman John Liu said Thursday. "How could anybody be so desperate for ratings?"

If you remember when they had older and younger men and older and younger women teams it didn't stay that way very long. Didn't they merge the teams after only a few shows? Thats probably what will happen this time too. It depends on who loses the most and has to vote someone off.

I don't thinkit's descriminatory at all. Was it when they were dividing them up by age or sex? No. It isn't segregation, the tribes always merge. It will be interesting to see how different cultures deal with the hardships of living like I do. Hahahaha I also love the idea of the republican, democrat,Greenies and independant. It would be a close race between the republicans and the independants.

I'm sorry-I had thought we were out of the "separate the blacks and whites" mentality. But after this and the school bus driver that made all the black kids sit in the back of the bus and the white kids sit in the front of the bus yesterday means we have a heck of a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go.

What do you mean about a bus driver segregating the kids, where did that happen? Yesterday? I haven't heard about that.
