Not looking forward to the fall elections

The forcast is calling for the GOP machine to use terrorism to bolster our support for republican candidates.
Personally I'm sick of policies that are ineffective and using fear as a constant motivation to drive this country. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, as long as the people let their 'fear' tactics work, I don't see much changing.

I do not vote along party lines. i am not affiliated with any party and like to think of myself as an independant. I am tired of having to choose between the lesser of two evils. I am also tired of politicians who lie and decieve us. I am in Illinois and no one runniing seems to be worth anything, the Dem govenor is doing good things but to extremes and there is no way to pay for this free healthcare to kids to families who earn up to $80K, which is nuts. To pay for this he cut childcare benefits to the working poor. No he signed a bill that provides preschool to all children. I wonder where the $$$ will come from that. He did sign a bill allowing more money for the MAP Grant for college kids, big deal. My son got more MAP so the school then deducted the exact amount from his scholarship. Nothing gained. god forbid he have extra money for books. The rep running for Gov is currently the state treasurer and has never been to a finance meeting. Both are jokes. Dont get me started on the cook county board race either. How is it that elected officals can leave office and pass it on to their kids like Lipinski did. he got reelected then immediately retired passing his seat to his son. Same with counbty board prez Stroger, except he is alive but not well.

I'd rather vote for Bozo or Ray rayner.

That's about the way I feel too. The local elections here in AZ are a total joke. I wouldn't pick any one of them to head a field trip even, much less an elected office.

Politics is not voting for the "best" cadidate. It is voting for the lesser of two evils.

Most people that would truly be a good addition to politics will never run for office.

This is actually not true. This year our country is seeing a lot of grassroot candidates coming out. A lot of them of course have not won their primaries, but, they are drawing attention to the issues that are most important to us...the citizens. Hopefully, this will get those politicians that are cemented in their seats an idea of what is really going on and they will wake up and smell the coffee.

I know here in TN our elections this year should prove to be very interesting. My brother won his primary by an "unexpected" landslide. No one expected him to win because all of the endorsements went to the "other guy" and there were bloggers calling the primary for the "other guy" early in the day. Boy, were they shocked when the results started coming in.

I think my brother will make a great Congressman because even though he is a Republican, he realizes that if he wins he is serving ALL people, democrats as well as republican.

The politicians here are so corrupt voting is a joke. The mayor is backed by both the police and firefighter's union. The chief of police wanted more officers so the mayor cut over $1 million dollars from the health dept to fund 200 more cops. Meanwhile, this city is the murder capital of FL now because the cops stay away from the areas that need the patrols but are all over the low crime areas. There was a huge investigation of the fire dept They found racism, nepotism, sexual harassment, even nooses were found hanging on black firefighter's lockers. A federal agency recommended that the firechief be fired. The mayor refuses to do so because he would lose the backing of the firefighter's union. Gov Bush is finally leaving office but the number 1 frontrunner is someone practically handpicked by him.

I'm voting independent and democratic for our elections this year. Our republican senators and congressmen really need to be gone...should have been a while ago. It's just hard to beat incumbants.

Re: Not looking forward to the fall elections

Well I have gotten just 3 candidates that I will be voting for so far, 1 republican and 2 democrats. Our republican senator voted against all that mess in the senate with the illegal aliens so he is the guy for me. The other two are democrats, one that I have watched closely and liked what I saw, the other a democrat that is running against Ken Blackwell for Governor. I don't like Ken Blackwell at all, not when he was a democrat and not now when he is a republican. I would write in Spuds name before I would vote for him. Mr. Blackwell is from here in the Cincinnati metro area so I have known stuff about him for a long, long time.

I think people are going to be shocked come this November. I think there will be a lot of new comers in Washington DC. I think Robertas (aka tngirl) brother stands a very good chance at going to Washington. He sounds to me like a very honest man and he definately knowes what it feels like to have to work hard for a living. Too bad Ohio hasn't got one just like him.

You guys have, in my opinion, one of the best Senators around....Barack Obama...just wanted to say that.
    Wherever you go....there you are!
