Re: Poor 2 year old dd
Thanks. I called the school, swallowed my pride, and explained the situation.
I am kind of a rock head that way. They will work with me. I can pay them next week instead. As far as dh goes, they advised me to just bring up his lack of payments at the hearing next month. -Joy

Also If you are receiving benefits from the state, which I believe you said you are, they will refer you to programs that help with (or cover completely) the cost of childrens education. Also, If you are truely sincere about wanting a job, the pennsylvania department of welfare allows you to do a job search for 60 days to better your situation, if you choose to further your education (but you may not choose to since you already have a degree) they will help you pay child care, transportation, clothing, fees charged at the school, and other misc things while attending. I know for a fact there are programs out there that pay for everything you could think of, quite a few of fellow students in nursing school received this help.
Also I highly doubt with DD's school being a Christian based center, they would do anything rash, since hubby sent a letter stating he would pay, they must know the situation.

Correct, they know the situation. They are going to work with me. Yes, I happen to be on public assistance. I will ask my caseworker what help is available. I also have more than 60 days. I have what's called a waiver for good cause for both domestic violence and medical problems. I documented what I was saying, and have an extension of the normal time limits. As far as Early Head Start, dd is enrolled in it. It is not a classroom setting, but a home visit based program. Helped dd a lot, but she is about to transition out of it. She turns 3 4/05. Anyways, filled out papers for Head Start, etc, in past few weeks. It happens to have a long waiting list, and the quality of her education is strong where she is now. I will just continue to work hard to improve my situation, the old fashioned way.
Thanks for your help and reply.

Re: Poor 2 year old dd
Talking to DHS in the early AM, after take dd to school, and talking to them about how to straighten out my financial house with him. As far as the ptr I was given, nothing happened to it, literally. I sat on it on the backburner, because I believed I should straighten out a lot of my burning personal issues first, before taking on things like a ptr, which requires a solid daily committment. I did not want to be someone that started, and petered out a month later. I posted and thought I was going to run monthlycash.com.
Spent a lot more time than I expected sitting in courtrooms. And I mean a lot of time. It resulted in my ex finally getting off his butt to get his belongings, and got the ball rolling for other orders that are keeping me safe, and future hearings for support, etc. So it is not making any money because I elected to put it on hold for a while. I underestimated how big some of my problems were. I have been making progress. I lost weight, and my arthritis got better. Kept dd and I healthy through a hard time. Resolved a lot of my medical issues that were severe even a few weeks ago, through better meds, therapy, and old fashioned hard work. Also did a lot of research on proper PTR administration, hosting, etc. It should really be starting soon. Wasn't planning on being in and out of a women's shelter, and other things that happened to me. Thank you for your post, and help. -Joy
What happened to the ptr program that you were given? Is it not making any money?[/QUOTE]

Re: Poor 2 year old dd
DD was put on a waiting list for a classroom based program called Head Start when I posted about the RAOK. She *will not* be 3 until April, and not even eligible to start until then, if there is room in the classroom. When I said about to be 3, I meant in a few months. It is common with a lot of these programs to enroll a child a few months ahead of time. DD's school is a private one, so tuition is assessed. Early Head Start is not a classroom based setting, but a home visit based one. It is true it costs me nothing, and is great. It is not a pre-school or a daycare, however. It is a home visitation program where they work with you on assessing your child's development, provide a few services like transportation to the doctors, referrals to other agencies, etc. So, yes, I posted correctly that she is enrolled in both of the above. She is sitting in Early Head Start until 3, and should be in a home based visitation program with Head Start, until there is room in the classroom.
Until that happens, she is sitting in the pre-school she is in now. Since this was posted, I worked hard and started to find ways to work out her staying in school.
I guess I'm just kind of curious why it's costing the OP for the school program for the early head start program....... because I could have sworn your daughter was in the Head Start program (based on this post and a few others prior to this one that I don't have time to locate right now)

Paid to read program.
You get paid little (yes, fractions of a penny) to read emails, visit site's, use specific searches etc. It adds up, sometimes slowly, but it does add up. Those types of programs are in the referral madness area.

thanx. Ok, yeah I was a SendMoreInfo person for awhile. lol never did collect on it. They kept raising the limit and paying less per email. I wonder if they're even up still.

I live in Pennsylvania, I have afriend who has 4 children, her husband and her divorced, she received public assistance, she also had 3 of her 4 children
in the early head start program which lead them into being placed into the head start program. The home visitor you are speaking of, yes, that is true, it is they do have a home visitor, she has one for her 2 1/2 year old, her 3 1/2 year old is in Pre school, they come to her house and bus him to the school and everything, he has lunch ther too, he leaves at 10 am and gets home at 4 pm, it costs absolutely nothing to her, this is a state wide head start program. They have helped her with so many services, it is unbelievable, this organization/ program whatever you would like to call it is great. When you "qualify" for it, there are several other programs you are qualified for. No matter what your time limit is for the state assisstance they will still help you with all I listed in prior post. If you are truely interested in obtaining a gainful job, I would suggest you inquire about these programs. I do not know though if they will pay for another degree program if you already have a degree. In PA there is the also a program for people with disabilities to get a new profession and they will pay for your training. I am not sure the name of it exactly, but am definately sure, if you are recieving assistance they will refer you to it. AND if you are enrolled in the PA Career Link, you could get a referral to the WIAA program, of course this is a program based on your income. If you don't have income or minimum income, then these programs are there to help you. Each and every one of them will refer you to the other if they believe there is a need for it. Here in Pennsylvania, they really try to help you better your situation, I can't understand why they have not told you of all the other oppertunities out there available to people who are having financial hardship. These agencies work together.
Sometimes it is hard to let go of a memory, especially if you remind yourself of it everyday.

Re: Poor 2 year old dd
Tina, I always thought headstart was free also but up home (Ohio) I had a girlfriend that wanted her boys in headstart but they made too much money so she had to pay a small fee for them to go. She definatly had the money for a private school, but she liked the headstart program and opted to place them there. It was a lot smaller fee then private school.
Joy, from what has been posted girl you need to be on that phone and apply away. If you are eligible for these programs, take advantage of them so that you and Faith can get out of the rut you feel you are in. Good Luck and God Bless.
The more you complain, the longer God makes you live.
