Now......i just bought Hefty ultra flex and my fiance went to throw the garbage away because tomorrow is garbage day and the bag just ripped! The bag wasn't even heavy. This bag is supposed to be "thick, strong & flexible" "Puncture protection" That really upset me! I love Jackie Chan~I'm a Jackie Chan Fan and I thought you know it worked but.....NOPE.
I am writing a letter to the Pactiv corporation about this. I have also emailed compliments to Glad. :D
Children Still Suffocating With Plastic Bags
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received an average of about 25 reports a year describing deaths to children who suffocated due to plastic bags. Almost 90 percent of them were under one year of age. Recent reports often describe bags originally used for dry cleaning and storage. Some may have been used to protect bedding and furniture, and others just were not carefully discarded.
Most dry cleaning bags and some other plastic bags bear a voluntary label such as:
"Warning: To avoid danger of suffocation, keep this plastic bag away from babies and children. Do not use this bag in cribs, beds, carriages or playpens. The plastic bag could block nose and mouth and prevent breathing. This bag is not a toy."
The CPSC has reports of children suffocating with plastic bags in cases like these:
Child pulled plastic dry-cleaning bag over face while lying on adult bed.
Plastic garbage bag (filled with clothes) fell over victim's face and mouth while victim was on adult bed.
Child crawled into plastic garbage bag.
Child rolled off mattress onto plastic bag filled with clothes.
Child slept on mattress covered by plastic bag.
Never put children to sleep on or near plastic bags.

Suffocation
Suffocation is a common cause of death among infants, toddlers, and young children. Suffocation can happen very easily and it can occur in a wide variety of situations. Deaths have resulted when children put plastic bags over their head or when they have become tangled up in dry-cleaning bags. Children have suffocated when they were placed in waterbeds, and everything from toy boxes to snow tunnels are potential suffocation hazards.
Keep in mind the following tips to help prevent suffocation:
Keep any type of plastic, nylon, or cloth bags away from children. Deaths have resulted when children have pulled dry-cleaning bags from hanging clothes stored in closets. Children have suffocated when they put the bags over their head and could not remove them. This kind of situation can happen surprisingly fast. There are warnings on the bags about suffocation; They are there for a reason.
Keep plastic garbage bags out of the reach of children. Remember to safely store the bags that you keep in the garage for yard work.
To the OP :) i am sure you just was not thinking when you did that . No flames here but please do explain to your 3 year old that trashbags are not to be played with and could result in death :(

I stick to the garbage bags I get at Aldi, they are cheap and hold up pretty good. Yes I am cheap :D lol
yeah i must have gotten a bad batch of something. the coupon they sent me was for up to the biggest size, i had only paid for the small box. so it's months later and i'm still not out of bags. it pays to complain.
Re: Hefty Ultra Flex vs. Glad Force Flex
OMG! Don't ever let a child play with a plastic bag much less put him in one. What in the world? What are people thinking these days??
Re: Hefty Ultra Flex vs. Glad Force Flex
Ok, I don't get it. What did you prove by putting your son in the bag and over your shoulder? That it would hold heavy items? Why would you do that? Why not load the bag with clothes or something that wouldn't break or get hurt IF the bag had busted. I'm really shocked that you done that to your kid.
Re: Hefty Ultra Flex vs. Glad Force Flex
EXACTLY Tasha! She could have piled magazines or cook books in it to test, not a child, especially one who is at the age of "monkey see monkey do"
Re: Hefty Ultra Flex vs. Glad Force Flex
DAVESBABYDOLL... I agree with what you said. I did think the same thing. But when I said that I knew that wouldn't take long I knew someone would say it to her harshly. Saying it the way you did was just going to up her defenses because maybe she didn't realize all that. Maybe someone could say to her that maybe it wasn't a good idea to put your child in the bag because it could be dangerous. Or Catrina had a good comment on it. I think that's all that needed to be said. My first thought when I read what she said I couldn't believe she did that either but I didn't post my personal opinion on here because #1 she didn't ask for it and #2 if I did then I would've been a lot less harsh about it. Don't want to make her feel stupid or anything cause it probably just didn't cross her mind or she probably wouldn't have done it.
edited to add: Actually I just reread your post and the only thing I thought was harsh was the digust comment.
Re: Hefty Ultra Flex vs. Glad Force Flex
lol, I've never been known to beat around the bush.I didn't think it was harsh,I just don't sugar coat. If someone on a public board doesn't or didn't ask for my or anyone elses opinon, then they need not post.If people are going to post dumb stuff on a public board then they should be aware, people do read and do have opinions and will post them, like it or not.
I am disgusted someone would do that. But,that comment wasn't harsh either just my opinion.
:D
