    AOL charge change

It looks like from reading below that there will be no deduction in AOL charges because we connect to the internet by DSL or other internet provider. Is that what it means to you?

At America Online, we're committed to making your online experience rewarding, however you connect to the Internet.

That's why we've simplified our pricing structure to offer just one unlimited plan for members who connect using dial-up or high-speed connections.

The new plan is $23.90 a month, a savings of $1.05 per month from your current plan. And we'll make this change for you automatically, effective with your next billing cycle after January 10, 2005.*

This simplified approach means you can count on the features, tools and content you need to make your Internet experience better, no matter where you are or how you connect -- broadband, dial-up or wireless. And you'll get it all for one reduced charge.
    - Unlimited access to the AOL® service -- high-speed and dial-up connections
    - Simultaneous access for up to seven (7) different screen names**
    - Plus, all the helpful tools and exclusive content that set the AOL service apart

Now, you'll find even more -- greater peace of mind. The newest version of the AOL software, AOL® 9.0 Security Edition, now includes McAfee® VirusScan® Online -- at no additional charge. It's easy to get, and easy to use. Simply go to AOL Keyword: Upgrade for more information.

If you have any questions, it's easy to get answers from our online help team at AOL Keyword: Live Help, 24 hours a day.

Thank you for choosing AOL. We look forward to serving you now and in the future.

    Sincerely,

    AOL Member Services
    America Online

    * If you have changed your price plan since December 10, 2004, this change does not affect you, and you will keep the new price plan you selected. If you have any questions about your price plan or billing cycle, go to AOL Keyword: Billing.

** Requires home networking equipment; only one dial-up user at a time.

    Re: AOL charge change

Well since you have DSL you should have already changed your pricing plan to BYOA which is $14.95 and that is what I pay since I have Cable Internet.. Dial up is 23.90 NOT for DSL or Cable Modem.. Look in your billing account and see the different price plans.. I just looked at the plans and that 23.90 is for dial up only. I personally love AOL and wouldn't change for nothing.. But like I said I only pay $14.95 a month plus I do there surveys and get about 9.00 off my bill a month..

    BYOA Plan Details

This plan charges $14.95 per month, which includes unlimited AOL usage through an Internet connection not provided by AOL. It also includes five free hours of dial up access in the U.S. each month, and each hour is only $2.95 per hour after that. Additional telephone charges may apply. Some premium services carry additional charges.

    Who should use this plan?
This plan is for members who want to use AOL either through their own Internet Service Provider or through the work or school environment.

Warning! This plan is not recommended for current AOL Broadband with DSL members. Online DSL usage will be billed at $2.95/hour under this plan and may result in exceptionally high bills.

If you already have a high-speed connection, you can take advantage of AOL Broadband BYOA. High-speed users will get access to all the exclusive features and programming available only on AOL Broadband. Click here to learn about the exciting AOL Broadband features available to members through this plan.

    To select the BYOA plan:
    1. Go to AOL Keyword: Billing.
    2. Click Change My Price Plan.
    3. Select "Annual Plan" from the options and click Switch to this Plan.

Things to remember about changing plans:
    • Once selected, the plan will go into effect on your next billing date. You will still be under your current plan until this change becomes effective.
    • Your next bill will include the $239.40 annual fee, along with any previous charges that you may have accumulated since you were last billed.
    • Communication surcharges may still apply and will be charged monthly to your AOL bill, along with any charges for premium services or purchases.

    Re: AOL charge change

If you have BYOA call AOL and say that your friend got BYOA for $9.95 a month and they will drop your price down to that. It is a special promotion that they don't advertise. All you have to do is agree to stay with them for a year, but you don't pay the year up front, it bills every month as usual. And if you get rid of AOL before the year is up they charge you a "fee" of $15. So if you keep it for at least 4 months you save! Just call and press the number to speak with the cancellation department and they will take care of you. I hope that can help someone!
