There are many issues in this election, not just the war in Iraq, gay marriage, and abortion - don't be fooled. The Bible doesn't say you can only vote Republican or you're going to Hell.

Sojourners is a great resource for Christians who want to make informed decisions, and I don't know any Christian who wouldn't want that It isn't a Democratic newsletter, for those of you who are true Bush supporters; it is simply a newsletter who looks at the issues from more of a compassionate, social justice stance, which hearkens back to the true underpinnings of the church, from my perspective.

I understand you have strong beliefs.
In turn, so do other people.

But you also have to understand that there are a lot of bad people out there doing whatever they want and hiding behind the "God" mask. "I am forgiven, I am saved, God told me to do so" etc.

And just as you wanted people to stay out of another thread because they didn't believe in your beliefs, maybe you should do as you preach and not be such a hypocrite.

I'm not getting in on the actual topic here, but I had to laugh when I read that part that I've bold-faced... You must know my ex-(idiot of a) brother-in-law! LOLOL. OMG... He's ALWAYS saying "It's all under the blood of Jesus" meaning... HE can do anything and everything and treat his kids like crap and welllllllll... God forgives, ya know. Well, one day, he used that "It's all under the blood of Jesus" line on me one too many times, and I said "Gee, R****(name left out), You must have about bled that poor guy dry by now"! LOLOL. OK, I don't mean that to be sacreligious or anything, I was just trying to drive home the point that he can't be using God (or Jesus) to do all his dirty work for him... or to hide behind when he does all the horrible things he does! OK, I'm a badmouth, I know, but that is ONE person I just cannot tolerate in my life. So, I'm sorry if this offends anyone, it's not meant for that at all.

    Well, you haven't offended me

I have had most of the Extreme Religious People in my life turn out to be wako's. Pretty much the most evil human beings in the world. And they just expect they will be forgiven.

It's these people that give religion a bad name.

It's a wonder I have any faith at all.

mandy, Bush PRESENTS himself as a candidate acting for God. Do not ever forget that Bush is a POLITICIAN first and power hungry. If he wasnt power hungry, he wouldnt be running for President. He is using this trust to get votes.

Kerry of course is no better, being a politician himself. But dont think just because Bush trumpets a couple of Christian issues that he is Saint Bush. He certainly is not. He started a WAR, signed over the execution of like (155? something like that) people in Texas (thou shalt not kill, remember), and straight faced lied about his tax cuts giving big breaks to the rich, and justifies it by saying "well they hire people to get them out of paying taxes anyways". People have lost jobs, and he gave no bid contracts to Cheneys oil company. Georgy is no saint.

I might point out that Kerry happens to be a Christian as well, and though I personally believe that a non-Christian can run the country, he also upholds Christian values, just on a more personal than legislative level. You say that religion should be part of politics, but I bet you wouldnt cheer if a non-Christian stood on a podium as president and applied his religion to federal law. that is why we have the separation of church and state. and all need to uphold it, not just non-Christians.

Until we accept our limitations, we will never overcome them.
