My entire family are LDS (Mormons, but they rarely call themselves that anymore). I was raised in the church but have decided that as much as I think it is a wonderful thing it was not for me. The church is great and all of my family is very happy except with me.

Heavenly mother isn't talked about much because she is regarded as very sacred, the more she is talked about the more she is open to worldly views and God doesn't like her name being taken in vane....frankly neither do I...and, not much is said of her in scripture, God hasn't revealed anything about her to the world, out of ultimate respect.

Question: After speaking with them I searched the scripture and didn't find anything that directly or indirectly of a heavenly mother. Where is it found?

Question: Throughout the Bible there are many references to earthly mothers and God commands us more than once to honor our earthly mothers. Mary was blessed amoung women because she was the earthly mother of Jesus. As Jesus hung on the cross He honor, loved, respected, and provided for His earthly mother. (John 3:26-27) My question is, if earthly mothers are held in such high honor in the Bible, then wouldn't it make sense that God would tell us of an heavenly mother?

I totally agree with the statement above, it is out of ultimate respect for Her.

I am sorry about not responding earlier.I do not have the best connection and for some reason I was not getting my emails about new postings for this topic.
The way our Bishop explained Heavenly Mother to us as kids was that she was loved and highly respected by out Heavenly Father and he did not want her being abused the way his name is.The Bishop told us to think about the way the world talks about God,and that would we want our mothers talked about in the same way? Probably not. The love he felt for her is stronger and more sacrad than that.

Just because she is not talked about does not make her less real.Think about it for a second,If we have a mother and a father here, wouldn't we have to have both in spirits? I have always thought that even as a little girl before I even realized that there were different religons out there.
Talking about and reading the posts on this subject has made me remember how much I still believe in the teachings of the church.Maybe it is time I pull my head out the sand, swallow my pride and get my toes back into church.

I have alot of experience with the LDS church. I've found that their faith differs from orthodox Christianity in many ways. The doctrine the church follows states that God was once a man, God created Jesus by having sex with a mortal woman, men can become Gods, Jesus is not divine but is the spirit brother of Lucifer.

I studied alot about Mormonism because I thought about becoming one, at one time. What I discovered was that it was not for me.

I live in a town with the largest Mormon population outside of Utah and my best friend is Mormon. They are wonderful people and have incredibly strong families, which I really admire.
