Did you see Pirate Radio??? Question

I saw it this weekend and one of the characters sure looked like Sean Lennon---John Lennon's son. Do you know if he was in the movie about the early British rockers, especially the Beatles? I tried to watch the credits but they went by so fast I couldn't see his name.

Thanks for reminding me about this movie.. I need to put it on my Netflix.
I love Bill Nighy & Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Does this help you with the cast ? In 1966, hard-partying British DJs -- a crew that includes Quentin (Bill Nighy), the Count (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Gavin (Rhys Ifans) and Dave (Nick Frost) -- have the time of their lives running a radio station on a ship in the North Sea, broadcasting generation-defining (but banned) music to millions. But they face getting shut down by Sir Alistair Dormandy (Kenneth Branagh).

I didn't see Sean Lennon listed in the cast Cast:Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Nick Frost, Kenneth Branagh, Tom Sturridge, Rhys Darby, Talulah Riley, January Jones, Emma Thompson, Gemma Arterton, Tom Wisdom, Jack Davenport

Well maybe they used a look alike then. See what you think when you watch it. One of the DJs looks just like Sean Lennon but he isn't featured much and they say he is the quiet one. I think it would be neat if it was him.

Also, IMO some of the music they play is the updated version of some songs---like the Neville Brothers song. But they may have sounded the same as they do today---I wasn't into music that much back then. My hubby knew most of the songs they played and who the artists were.

It's a fun film and a walk down memory lane. Also, you need to listen harder since so many have British accents---at least the British actors do. LOL

I think the one guy your thinking of was, Mark in the movie. Was he like the guy who wore all black & his "shtick" was that he never spoke? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0936300/

The sound editing in the movie was horrible...all the music was tunred way up & the actors were turned way down., it was hard to hear the actors if music was playing in the background.

I loved the music., that was the stuff I was brought up on as a kid. Loved hearing Otis Redding again... forgot how much I loved that song.. These Arms Of Mine....
And hearing Father & Son by Cat Stevens always makes me cry.

I don't believe the songs were updated, I think they were all original.... The wikipedia for the soundtrack lists the songs & there is no mention of the Neville Brothers... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boa...ed_(soundtrack)

Didn't know that in Great Britan the movie is called THE BOAT THAT ROCKED.

It would have been neat if they had Sean Lennon in the moive, especially when they paid such homage to the Beatles. He does look a little different then the actor and more like his father. Would have been neat though.

    Thanks.

    Here is the soundtrack---

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boa...ed_(soundtrack)

I don't see the Neville Brothers listed, only the Isley Brothers. They did play the Neville Brothers song and it sounded like the one they had a hit from a few years ago. HMMMM???

"as well as the opening track from contemporary artist Duffy and a 1980s song by David Bowie."

They did play contemporary songs as well. Not sure why. The need to bring in the younger crowd, I guess.

I don't know who Duffy is or what song she did in the movie., but I did like Let's Dance & thought it fit in with the credits & the end of the film... going thru the album covers of the 60s ,70s, 80s & 90s., kind of put it all in perspetive with the song & the theme of the movie.
