doesn't anyone care if duplicate scans paid for by medicare???
I am very concerned about something. My husband had a cat scan of the abdomen, chest and pelvis on the 21st of May. This was ordered by the oncologist looking for cancer. Thankfully it came back, couldn't find anything.
Now he has a cat scan of the spine ordered by the neurosurgeon, scheduled for tomorrow. I called the office to see if they could use the same one and if not would the insurance pay for this one since they did for the last one. I don't want to get a huge bill! The neurosurgeons nurse could not have been less interested. She didn't say , what was the other scan of. Instead she said what kind of insurance does he have. I told her medicare and our other and she said oh if he has medicare , it will pay for it. Either way I'm concerned. Of course I don't want to pay for one but also, I don't want medicare to pay for a second one if the first one can be used. Thinking about it, probably scan of spine would not be included in the other scans but her lack of interest really bothered me.
