Need a little computer help
I am not sure what happened with the desktop computer, I know the kids have been playing a lot of games on it lately so I am not sure if they clicked on something.
I am getting a ton of pop-up's. We have cable and if we leave the computer for a while (like an hour or so) we always end up with a bunch of pop-up's on it. It is also running slow.
I put malware on it and it found 13 problems, it says it fixed them though. Not sure what else to do. I have zonealarm on it but I am thinking it is not working. Since I updated it I have not gotten one alert on it. Does not seem to be blocking anything.
Is there anything other then zonealarm that I can use but it has to be free. I can't afford to buy anything right now. Also what can I do to fix whatever is going on with it?
Thank you in advance!

Go to www.cnet.com and download and install - AVG personal, Spybot and AdawareSE. They are all free and work really well. Then download Firefox and put the Adblock plus add on and it will block most all advertising.

You would need to remove it before you install any other anti virus. That is what I like about cnet they have checked all the downloads.

I would also dump your cookies and check to see what add ons are installed if you are using IE. If you are using IE, click on "tools" on the browser bar and then "manage add ons" and "enable disable add ons" go through the diffent drop down menus and disable the different active X controls, especially if they dont sound like something you need or should be there.
A big clue is ones that dont have a publisher, or they are a company you dont recognize(like microsoft or yahoo) or if the publisher isnt confirmed. You would not believe how many things you will find in the active X controls that shouldnt be there that will cause problems.

We don't use IE, all of us use the firefox browser. Firefox wouldn't have that problem would they? I have gone through my add-ons for firefox and they are fine, I only have a few of them anyway lol
