    Breast biopsy anyone? Questions?

I had a breast biopsy done on Friday morning on both. Anyway, I was told that I would be uncomfortable for the first 24 hours. Well, it's not uncomfortable.....IT HURTS. I was also told to keep wearing my bra until Sunday night....48 hours.

I'm also developing a rash on each of the places the dr. took a biopsy from. I had 2 done on each side. My right side is swelling too. Along with an ache right under my right armpit....really hurts if I try to pick something off the floor or reach for something in refrigerator.

Like I said I was told it would be uncomfortable the first couple of hours. Put ice on the areas.

This isn't what I was expecting at all. I thought Friday I'd come home sleep it off and be fine on Saturday. It's just getting worse.

    Any suggestions anyone? TIA

I have had 2 done on the same breast and they both hurt like heck. I don't have any suggestions. I took the pain pills I had from something else. My breast hurt for months. I have to go Monday to schedule another one. I have new calcifications. I am so not looking forward to it. I hope you get good news about your biopsies.

I can't believe they won't give you any pain meds. after all this. Just unreal to me. I really thought it would be just one day of hurting.....NOPE. If it's not better by Monday I'm calling my regular dr. for something. Plus, the damn thing keeps bleeding. I've changed bandages so many times.

Good luck on Monday. I hope you get good results. Aggie's on pins and needles waiting on mine to come back.

Ice packs, no lifting and keep your arms as immobile as possible.

I had one done a few years ago. They cut alone side the of the areola to remove the cyst. I don't recall having any problems or discomfort with it. Maybe go to the emergency room and have it checked and make sure everything is ok if it is bothering you that much. Hope you feel better soon.

Good idea. However, I'd feel kind of goofy telling them both my boobs hurt until it's explained. I had Mastitis a few years ago and went to the e.r. It was the weekend and my dr. was closed. You should of seen the look on the drs. face when all I could do is cry since everything was tender. If it's not better by tomorrow I'm going to my drs. office and just wait til he can see me. I Know he has other patients to see, is busy....I'll just wait. It's worse today than it was yesterday or Friday.

Watch for red streaks or if there is too much redness and swelling you will want to go ahead to the ER. You could have a serious hematoma setting up and it could lead to abscessing and is better if treated sooner than later.

When my mom had one done a year or so ago they gave her a prescription for Loratabs for the pain but she didnt take them said it was uncomfortable but didnt hurt bad enough.

I guess it depends on the person but I hope you heal up soon! If it gets unbearable or if YOU think something is wrong other then whats suppose to be wrong id go to the ER. Its your body you know when to much is to much and its best to be safer then sorry

I'm watching for that very closely. I was hospitalized when I was teen with Staph infection.....started with the heat and red streaks.

    Mini,

I have a very high tolerance for pain and pain medications. However, I think I should of been told something like....it might hurt longer, will be sore, you might bleed. Go to E.R. if pain persists. It is a little better today...but nothing of what I was expecting. I'm calling my dr. in the a.m. to get in. ICE PACKS ARE FOR THE BIRDS. My right side is a lot larger than my left. It's not hot to the touch but there's redness around where the biopsy's were done....all 4.

Thank you everyone for your care, concern. Aggie thinks I ought to be back to "normal" today. He asked me lastnite what was for supper. I told him "whatever you can find to cook or what's in the refrigerator"......that comment didn't go over to well. I went to bed at 7:00 p.m. and didn't get up til around 8:00 this morning. Aggie still wanted me to do something.....I'M NOT. I still haven't put on clothes since we arrived home on Friday. I DON'T CARE....THIS THING HURTS. When I compared it to a dr. cutting on his personal part....he quietly walked away and hasn't said a word about it since. I think he finally gets the idea....it wasn't a joy ride. The complaint of waiting on me for 3 hours also stopped.
