yes, I use desitin, creamy (zinc oxide, hypollargenic over night relief, chosen as #1 choice of pediatricians and mothers) works wonders for me, and the only kind that has helped, I have had 3 children, and have tried just about everything out there. The best it works is when you put it on right before bedtime, and in the morning is literally all gone!!

I used to love Diaprotex but I don't know if they still make it (it's been about 8 years since I've had to use anything like that). It came on little applicators that you threw away after applying so you didn't get it on your hands and it always cleared the rash up right away.

I agree the Boudreaux's Butt Paste. It works better than Desitin in my opinion, and smells nice and sweet. Its a creamy tan/yellow. Walmart sells it.

When my kids had a bad rash that just would not go away after trying everything else......I would use the Lansinoh Nipple ointment...worked like a charm. It is pricey though, about $8-$10 for a small tube, a little goes a long way though. I think it varies from baby to baby. I hope she finds something that works!

Also ask the pharmicist if he/she has a personal recipe for severe diaper rash, the one that works for a local hospital has one that is the best stuff around, better than comercial brands, and if you ask him for it at the hospital he'll mix it for free, the children's hospital keeps it on the floor for the new patients. My oldest would get slathered in it when she was in for her asthma and he's mix up more to take home.

I used desitin with my 3 kids, worked great. I tried the cheaper brands and this is the only that worked good and quickly.

i would use Mylanta. dab it on with a cotton ball. its used for stomach acid, so it helps stop the burn from the acid from the stuff thats in the diaper touching the baby's bum.
