You can check Ebay to see what some of the items are selling for. Depending on what movies they are (like Disney) you might get $1-$2 for them. I personally wouldn't charge more than $5 for a clothing item at a garage sale even if its new. I look for sales where clothing items are around $.50 to $2.00.Higher than that and I don't even look unless its new. Ebay would be a good alternative if you can't sell some of your collectibles. ALthough its a little more hassle to box and ship it (something else to consider when pricing). Consignment shops might also take your collectibles and clothing, although you will have to split the money made. I had a set of those Carlton Sheets programs (mine were Dvd's). I think I got $10 for it at my sale. If you can't sell some of the items and their value is negligible you might consider Freecycle.org for your area. You will be giving the items away, but at least they will be out of your hair so you can focus on packing if you have to move.

Thanks -been watching ebay for several months and have not seen any dolls or plates selling - lots of auctions - no sales

I have also done lots of freecycling this year - mostly responding to wants - but it is hard as my condo has a shared locked door and rules about leaving things out on your patio - plus I really need $$ now - been laid off for a year, and had a few things stolen recently which cost me. So I will freecycle leftovers - just hate to pack up again and reload after the sale. I am hopind to find some flea mrkts around this summer. also have not found any consignment shops close by so far .

I have no idea about prices but I was just reading an article about garage sales in a magazine this morning. It said to price things higher than the price you actually want because people like to haggle and feel like they are getting a buy. Good luck at your sale. I hope you make a good profit.

I had a garage sale a couple years ago with my sister, her stuff was marked up a little bit and mine wasnt as I just wanted to get rid of it...mine all sold the first day, so if you price low you will sell more......but seeing how its a fundraising sale people should expect to find items a little more then usual to help the cause.....I would suggest marking how you feel is best and put a sign up that you are willing to accept all reasonable offers, someone will throw you an offer, only accept if you want to.

if you have a lot of the mc teenie babies you could sell them for .25 and put or 5/1.00 on them if you want to just get rid of them.

Purses new with tags I would say no more then 3.00, those without tags usually go anywhere around .50-1.00(same with shoes)

Plus size jeans with tags no more then 3-5.00, I personally have a hard time finding a sale with plus size anything and when I do and its in good shape I will buy as will anyone else that is looking for those sizes because those sizes are always more in the store then reg. sizes............those that you have with no tag anywhere from .25-1.00 depending on the shape.

for all the other stuff you could always go on craigslist and get some prices as well and like someone else suggest go look on ebay.
Good luck with your sale, I hope its profitable for you and your cause

I have no idea how to price. Came in to see if I could learn something lol.

I do go to garage sales though. I'm not ones of those that will haggle at a garage sale. If it has to much on it, I'll go by. IMO either you want to sell it or not.
One thing I did like that I've seen. Garage sales sometimes go half price on the last day.

Its hard to say....I would have the kids make a poster for the table, price stuff cheap and put out a donation jar. Also would some parents bake some items that you guys could sell? Donated baked items are free profit and fifty cents each will really add up. Could you get a discount on the table since its for the school? It'd be worth asking.

A lot of people expect to get things dirt cheap....I'd price low and hope for donations. Of course larger items you can get more for. I have found that most people won't even look at clothes unless they are 5o cents or cheaper.

Thanks all- another question I just thought of - do I need to provide bags for people to carry their stuff? I have been saving bags for my craft show next week, but never thought of bags for the garage sale.

bummer too - Thursdays forecast for Sat. said weather would be clear, sunny and 71- perfect. Today it said 82 with thunder showers in the afternoon. ugh!

Definately take bags. If you don't use them great! But I imagine you will need some, especially if you have decent prices.
