Can anyone help? (computer problem)
Hi everyone.
My dad is having a computer problem. I would appear that my son downloaded a song that had a trojan virus attached to it. We downloaded the exe to rid of the Trojan.Brisv.Alinf threat and it got rid of it for a short time, now its back and we cant seem to get rid of it this time...we went to download the removal tool again from Nortons and its telling us to disable system restore in Nortons 360. OK, well we try to do that and nothing, it wont uncheck, wont budge Nothing!. so now we are stuck with this virus again and dont really know what else to do sense what the site told us what to do is not helping any obviously by ridding us of this nasty thing...
can anyone help?
Thank you!

The only thing I can tell you is reformat the computer and that will get rid of it. Other than that sometimes you just can not get rid of them.
I speak my mind because it hurts to bite my tongue!

That one is rampant on Limewire right now, but if his Norton's was updated I don't know why it wouldn't have stopped the download. I just spent 3 hours last night getting it off a friend's laptop!
Did you run the tool in safe mode? Also, sometimes after the removal that tool doesn't delete the mp3 that it was in, you have to delete it after the running the removal tool or it will just come back.
Also, try emptying the System Restore folder, then maybe it will let you uncheck it to turn it off.

DH's 50th birthday is this year and I was planning on going to Limewire to download some songs that were popular in the year he was born. I just got a new computer and don't want to ruin it with a virus. Is there somewhere besides Limewire that I can download songs for free?

It doesn't matter much where you D/L from, always scan everything as it's D/L'ing. If you do, it should stop one that is infected.

Well, I use Norton's and in the settings for it you can check that you want to it scan all D/L's. So when I start D/L'ing something with Limewire, mIRC etc, if it's infected it will pop up and tell me that and that it stopped the D/L. I have it set to scan all my incoming email also.
