Been cigarette-free for over 4 yrs now.

Good Luck! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

I was a 3 pack a day smoker., I was the Cigarette-Nazi! I was hard core. If I can do it you can too! I PROMISE YOU!
    YOU HAVE TO WANT TO!!!!
YOU HAVE TO REALIZE ALL THE HORRIBLE THINGS ABOUT SMOKING costs, health, smell, kids, future, etc...
THERE IS NOT ONE GOOD THING ABOUT SMOKING! THERE ARE A GAZILLION GOOD THINGS ABOUT NOT SMOKING! ...and you know this... MAN!!!!!!!!
That's the thing. From my experience, EVERY smoker knows that smoking is bad...unhealthy, nasty, NOT cool, expensive, stinky, offensive, etc., etc., etc. But like you said, "YOU HAVE TO WANT TO!!!!" When I was in the midst of trying to quit, intellectually I knew it was an awful, awful addiction and I kept praying to want to 'want to.'

It finally happened. I was finally motivated and when I was, quitting was no big deal. I will never smoke again. (I don't like the words always and never but in this instance, never suits the situation.)

I don't think any smoker realizes how badly they smell. I know I didn't. My daughter still smoked until recently. She told me in all honesty "People at work don't know I smoke".

Yeah, they do. Trust me, they do.

The smell is the one thing that kept me from going back. I just couldn't go back to stinking like that. I always thought people were exaggerating when they talked about it but I was shocked to find out how real that stench is.

The only time I was ever able to quit smoking was when I was pregnant. It was all the motivation I needed. BUT...I have tried CHantix and it did work, but I had some crazy side effects. The wierd dreams made me stop taking the pill so I started again. Now that I am broke and it aint no joke, I don't really smoke. Well, I don't BUY cigarettes. I just smoke when I am around Wayne because he smokes.

I quit for the last time, February 1st, 2005. I got sent to the ER and they thought I was having a stroke. That did it for me. I used the gum for about a week and that was that. It's the best thing I have ever done. You can do it, too!

    That is so true !

I would go to church for special occasions (of course, they look down on smoking), and, I would try and hide it... shower right before going, not smoking before going, and using perfumes... now I know that doing those things only made the 'stink' smell worse ! Compared to perfume, 'ashtray odor' is even nastier !

I can smell a smoker from nearly 20 feet away !

And I wore perfume then. Ha, why bother? I could smell it but I'm sure no one else could.

I just decided one day to quit. I had about 3 cartons of cigs left, so I decided after they were gone I was done. I slowly started cutting back each day and when I smoked my last cig it was Nov, 9th 2006 at 7pm. I chewed nicorette fruit chill gum that I had got through bzzagent. It wasn't the first time I had tried to quit but it was the easiest. It didn't really bother me much and I never thought of smoking again, it's like I never smoked. I don't miss them at all, it is a stinky gross habit and when someone walks by me in a store, or in an office smelling of smoke it's disgusting.

I used Chantix to quit smoking. This past November made 1 year for me, smoke free!

I stopped when I was pregnant with my first son and haven't touched them since.
I kept what was left in my cig case in a cabinet for a year. It was just knowing I had them if I wanted them. Basically if you ever notice when you are down to the last few in your pack you panic just knowing you might run out so you have to have them and want to smoke more, but if you have plenty you don't worry. Thats how I was so I kept them for over a year!
Now I hate the smell of smokers....they don't smell it but boys us nonsmokers can! I remember my sister used to grumble that the ashtrays stunk and I laughed at her..........boy was she right!
April will make me smoke free 12 years!! PRAISE GOD!! Couldn't have done it without the Lords help!!
When Jesus Returns will you be ready??

Watching my father drop dead of a heart attack was enough to get me to quit.
    That was 12 years ago.

I quit with aculaser thearpy 3 years ago, I tried everything and that is what worked for me. We bought new carpet, furniture and painted but sometimes I still can smell the smoke. I think it comes out of the heating ducts.
