When is the best time to go to New Orleans?

I don't want to go for Mardi Gras and I don't want to go during hurricane season. So with that in mind, when should I schedule my vacation?

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Marti Gras is usually the end of February or the beginning of March. There is no way that you would have to worry about hurricane season during Marti Gras.

February 24 is the Mardi Gras this year....with 40 days of Lent following, and Easter Sunday being April 12th, 2009

Mardi Gras is the day before Ash Wednesday, which is February 25, 2009

    editing to add:

if you don't want to go for Mardi Gras... then I would suggest either Easter Week (middle of April) or a little later than that -- around middle of May...that way you go before hurricane season starts, but it's warm/sunny to enjoy time outside before it gets sweltering.
2 days from now, tomorrow will be yesterday.

Its fun to go around Halloween and still warm enough out. Or during the Jazz Festival

Aggie and I usually go around April or May. Anytime really is a great time to go. Lots to do, see, eat. We get there in about 6 hours from Houston.

If you're into art....they have some amazing art galleries to visit. The French Quarter is great.....as well as most restaurants, night time activities. Also have all kinds of festivals going on most all year long.

I've gone on four trips to help with the rebuilding. The first was in April 06-it was pretty hot. The last three trips have been the end of October 06, 07 and 08. The weather has always been great then-I love New Orleans.

Okay so we have our hotel stay set up for April 4th to the 9th. While there I want to take a drive to the gulf. Where is the best place to see the blue water and white sand?
