WV people
I know there are a couple of people here from WV, I'm just not sure what part. I'm going to be in the Buckhannon/Weston/Bridgeport area for a week at the end of this month and I'm looking for things to do there. All I know is the lake (I think it's Stonewall Jackson?) and the glass factory. Can anyone help with more ideas?

Ahhh, you will be very near the French Creek game (now the West Virginia Wildlife Center) farm... it's the whole top of a mountain, you walk around the top (there are benches to rest on if needed), you see animals in their own wild habitat, snakes, otters etc... it's before you get to Buckhannon, off Rt. 33... it's only a few bucks per person, well worth it. Here, the link even shows the paved walkways...

Stomewall Jackson park is sooooo expensive, but, super nice !
The mall at Bridgeport is nice... Old Navy, and several cool shops... it's the Meadowbrook Mall, the exit is just past the Rt. 50 exit, on Interstate 79 north.. not sure the exit number, but, there are signs.
Tygart Lake state park is close by Bridgeport too, you can rent boats at the marina... also close is Pricketts Fort State Park... I love the fort ! We always stop by there. (just google this stuff) It's only like 2 or 3 miles off Interstate 79 north of Clarksburg/Bridgeport.
Here ya go... a whole list of nearby stuff, near Bridgeport:

Oh yes, I remember the game farm, I grew up going there. I didn't know the name had changed, I totally overlooked the info when I saw the new name online.
So many of those names sound familiar, now I have some things to go look up. Thanks so much, I am a planner and this will help so much. I can't wait.

Oh, *duh*, I forgot to mention... I'm going to be whitewater swimming at Audra state park either tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday, or Monday & Tuesday... that's like 15 miles from Buckhannon... if ya wanna take the plunge, we have rafts and tubes... maybe we'll cross paths ! The 'swimming hole' is at the very end of the campground... where the road hairpin turns to the left.
