You are very brave and you are doing something that many people are not brave enough to make themselves do or are not fortunate enough to do. I did this also and it was one of the hardest things I ever did. I was so scared I tried to get my husband to go with me but he refused. I am glad he refused because it made me stronger to do it myself. You are so strong for doing this. Anyone who knows anything about the fear you faced and managed to do it anyway admires you. Be so proud of yourself. And know that I admire you immensely.

OK, Ya'll, wanted to update. First of all Thanks for all the good wishes! They really did help! First day went OK, nothing too embarrassing happened. My first class was Algebra, which will be a challenge for me, math has never been my thing. The intructor went through the whole introduction, intoroduced himself and told us what the class would be like. It was his first time teaching at my school. He tried to scare some of us by saying that if we were placed into his class by the score on the placement test and not by taking the prerequiset (sp?) class, that he was most likely going to send us to another class, because that we had just got "lucky" on the placement test. I placed into that class because of the placement test, so it made me wonder when he was talking if I really did well enough on the test to be there, or was just lucky as he said. I also had my expository writting class, which I loved! That will also be a challenge, but interesting also. Then I have a study skills class. I have to study to learn how to study? Which part of that class is computer basics, so I may be ahead of the game in some ways. The only wierd moment of the day was also in that class. Some of you already know that I was convicted of a crime years ago, felony, and did some prison time. That was when I was 19, I'm 30 now. I worked at K-mart and let my so called friends use checks and credit cards at my register. There were 4 of us, and we all got convicted of the same thing, we were codefendants. Well guess who wound up in my study skills class? One of my codefendants! And we got paired up on the first excersize. We were sposed to pair up and fill out a paper together, learn something about each other and then introduce our partner to the class. The whole thing was to help us all learn and remember the name of our classmates, which I guess would also help us remember what we learned studying too. My codefendant was nice to me, although you could tell that both of us had rather have been anywhere else in the world at that moment. Well when our turn came up to introduce each other, I went first, I said "This is ________, she wants to be a nurse, has 3 kids, loves to read." Then it was her turn. She stood up and said "This is Amy, Shes been to prison". I wanted to drop through the floor!
I never saw that coming! Thought that we had moved past all that and grew up. Guess I was wrong. The whole class looked at me like I was crazy. That is so not how I wanted the class to remember me. Oh, and it didn't help matters that I was wearing an orange t-shirt. County jail orange to be exact! On our assignment we were supposed to write the names of our classmates as they were introduced and write something that would help us remember them. Well when we traded papers I noticed that one of the other students had wrote "jail bird" beside my name. I think that once I get over that embarrassing and totally uncalled for moment that the whole school thing will be OK. Other than that, I enjoyed it. Today I have algebra again, with my first test already! And Pshycology.

I went back to school when I was about 38. I felt really really old and like everybody was looking at me anyway. I am a big loud mouth, that is how they remember me.....lol. One thing for sure, they know YOU now. If it were me, I would tell them the story. You would probably hear something juicy about them.
Good luck with school. I know it is tough, but worth it!

I can't believe that girl called you out in front of the whole class.

well how could you your first day in a class room in more than a decade I really hope he turns out to be a good teacher. Maybe they have tutors there at your school and you can use them. I started out in basic math and had to slowly move my way up. I had the same teacher until I hit real Algebra and they taught completely different I aced all of them until I hit Algebra and I ended up with a C. I told him I didnt like the grade but I would take it because thats what I earned lol
