Do you eat eggs on Easter?

I know all have Easter egg hunts for the kids but I was alway taught that you had to eat at least one egg on Easter for the new beginning.
Egg means new life and so does Easter. Was anyone else ever told this or is this something just for our area?

I've never heard that before. As for eating eggs on Easter, well it just depends on my mood for a hard boiled egg.

didnt even boil eggs here! I used the plastic eggs and filled them with candy. I want to get some of the dyeing kits on sale though and stock up on them. It would be fun to do with the eggs when we do potato salad or something

Never heard of that before. Personally I can't stand hard boiled eggs. I prefer poached or soft boiled and had them last night for supper. My boys never ate the hard boiled eggs at Easter either but they made a mess of them tossing them around.

Re: Do you eat eggs on Easter?

When I was a kid, we got our basket blessed on Holy Saturday and it contained our meal that we were to eat on Easter Sunday. We always put a red egg in there to symbolize the body and blood of Jesus. On Easter Sunday, my dad would cut that egg and we would eat it. Do I still do this? .. No, but it's a big tradition for Byzantine Catholics.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Distance and time may separate us but friendship and memories won't.
~When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure~
