    Vacation to Gatlinburg Need Advice

Hi, My family and I are visiting the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area in May. We are Hurricane Katrina victims (Mississippi) and just want a much needed and deserved vacation to get away for a few days. We are planning to stay 4 nights. We have never been there and looking foward to visiting Dollywood, Splash Country and Dixie Stampede.

We are on a budget so What Im wondering is if there are any discounts out there for purchasing these tickets in advance.

We would also like to rent a 3 bedroom cabin or chalet. Can anyone suggest the best rental for the best price? Thanks for a any help!

I am a Gatlinburg nut, I visit at least once a year! I do HIGHLY recommend you reserve early, and usually online they have discount offers, like package deals, one common one is stay 3 nights and get 4rth free. Be sure to go there. I usually rent Chalets/Cabins, they make the Mountain visit MAGICAL! I usually go to google/yahoo and search for rentals.

The best site that has several is:

I hope I helped you and can give more info if needed. Let me know and hope you have a wonderful trip!

I think that you are going to have to do some serious bargain shopping to be able to rent a three bedroom chalat on a budget, hotel rooms run about $100 a night in the winter time there because of all the tourist events such as the Dixie Stampede. Try going to orbitz.com and other things such as that to get good prices on things

I got a pretty good deal at a nice Comfort Inn & Suites when we went to Pigeon Forge in April of last year. They have package deals and they will email you with your price. We're going to use them again this year.

The cabins are way up there, or at least the ones I've looked at online have been. Its just a little too steep for us. So we're going to Comfort Inn again.

The hotel is located right across the street you take to get to Dollywood and pretty much across the street from Dixie Stampede (we walked to it). Its nice, the rooms were nice and it has an indoor pool & hot tub. If you want the link, just let me know.

let me see what I can find, weve beent here a few times. You need to do a time share when you get down there, for 30 minutes of your time, you can save some big money. they give out tickets to every thing, and even money. We done it one time, and got 2 tickets to the aquarium and $50 cash. They were trying to buy out last night there but we didn't stay another night so they give us cash. If you bargain with them you can get what tickets you want. And if you are willing to not have 3BR, but have like 1 or 2BR but it will sleep more people, like pull out couches, you can get cheaper than 3 BR.
I love looking for these, let me see what I can find.

Thank you all for your help. I found a cabin that sleeps 10 for a total of $523 including all taxes and fees. It is a very nice cabin so I think I got a pretty good deal figuring the closest I found to it was $810. We are splitting the cost so it works out great.

Now I just need to find some discounted tickets. If anyone has any ideas, please post.

    Thanks again!

Hey, could you give me a link to the place where you found the cabin?

My DH would love to get a cabin but all the places we've found have been expensive. lol

Sure, no problem. If you book online they give you a 15% discount. (Have to pay 1 night Deposit) I saved $70 with the discount. The company is Cabins USA. Below are the links. Hope this helps!

    Coolchic,

Glad you went with the cabin choice! I stay at them often and they do not cost much at all, ESPECIALLY in the winter! You should have fun for sure! Discounts are offered everywhere in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, just go to any business and coupons are always at the doorways! I am planning my next trip too.............I warn you, you do it once, and you will become hooked!

    Tasha,

Just go to the smoky mountain mall link I posted above and cabin usa amongst others will appear! Happy Hunting!

Thanks! I've heard so many good things. I know we will enjoy it. Been wanting to go for years now and cant hardly wait. Thanks for the tip about coupons. I was really hoping to find some discounts for Dollywood/Splash Country. Do you know if they distribute any $ off coupons for these places? I have a family of 7 and it gets kind of expensive, lol.

    Thanks again,
    Eva
