ahhhhhhhhh.......SNAKE!!!!!!

This morning my son came in and said there was a dead snake out near their swing.....So my DH went out to look and came running in saying he needed the shot gun.....LOL it was alive!!!!!!! He shot it and missed and then shot it again......got it right in the head. It was about 2 1/2 feet long and was skinny......he said it was a baby........NOT TO ME!!!!!!!!!

just thought I would let you guys know to warn your kids....snakes are crawling...........

We lived out in the country when I was young. Most snakes just eat
rodents. We learned to be tolerant of them.

I was just curious about what kin it was.

I wouldn't have killed it either...lol...I would much rather kill a spider...ewww..anything with more than 4 legs dies around here...lol...most snakes are fine, but since moving to the south I have learned that some snakes are very poisionious, like a water moccassin (sp?). I am so glad your son didn't get hurt by the snake.

My mother is the same way. My parents live in Florida and once in a great while she will see one in her yard. Unless she knows it's poisonus she leaves it alone because they eat those tiny frogs that stick to the windows and leaves a mess. If she knows it's poisonous she will get her neighbor and he will kill it with a shovel and dispose of it. She has two Yorkshire Terriers and she's afraid of them getting bitten. They are never loose but one time she had taken them out on the leash to go to the bathroom and there was one laying in the grass and one of her dogs went over and put her nose right on it. She said because the dogs are so small she would never get them to the vet in time to save them.

I just remembered a funny, a few weeks ago I pulled into our driveway (I had gone to the store). I got out of the truck and there was a longgggg snake. I thought oh kool, put down my groceries and pulled out my new PDA (with camera, see it is being used..lol) I took several pics of it. I then decided to pick it up to take to the house for the boys to see it. I was soooo excited. Just then DH called me on my cell phone, I answer and tell him of my wonderful find...he freaked out...DO NOT PICK IT UP...LOL. I am like my go****s just a snake and he is like it could be a moccassin. Needless to say, I didn't pick it up but by the time I ran in the house, and got the boys it was gone...boo hoo...I think it grew legs and ran. I looked it up and it was only a king snake, it would have been safe to pick it up after all. He was about 3 foot long and beautiful.
