Re: Father's Day is around the corner........
shannykitty, if you order from some online stores, you can have it shipped to them so you don't have to ship it yourself. I know www.walmart.com will even gift wrap it.
I'm thinking of getting my husband a new fishing rod (I broke his a few years ago) and his hunting/fishing license. This weekend is Take A Kid Fishing Day here in our area, so I'm hoping if I get it and give it to him early, he'll take our son. My father will probably just be getting a nice card because he's the type of person that has everything he wants cause he buys it himself.

I ordered my DH a Dale Earnhardt clock, plaque and pillow. Plus a Dale Jr. pillow. Hopefully it will get here before Father's Day. lol
I have no idea what I will get my dad, step dad and father in law.

Re: Father's Day is around the corner........
Dirkswife...I think that is a point worth making!!!
My ex used to use the "You're not my mom." excuse. What was particularly annoying with that line is that #1...if I hadn't gotten anything for his mom...she would not have gotten anything from him either. And...#2...no, I am not your mom, but I am the mother of your child!!!
My husband has always been very good about making it a special day for me. I can't even begin to compete with how well he treats me. I've been trying to make mental notes for things he needs.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

Hmmmm, your Dh must be related to mine, because mine said the same thing one year, but this is how I look at it..... MD comes before FD and if I get nothing from him, he gets nothing from me. My birthday is a month before his so if I don't get anything from him, he gets nothing from me. It doesn't really matter after 33 years of marriage because my daughters always do nice things for me. It bothered me when the kids were little, but like I said, I got even, and besides it didn't kill me. In fact, when the kids were little, sometimes I would go out and buy what I wanted and tell Dh it was from the kids. He never was very good at picking out gifts for me anyway.
As for my dad, he died years ago and my FIL died as well, so until my son in-law is a father, that's one holiday I'm not going to worry about for a while.

Re: Father's Day is around the corner........
I don't have a husband or grandfather to buy for so I just have to buy for my Dad.
A webber grill (cause he's been hinting at wanting one cause his big grill is far too big to use when it's just the 3 of us eating) and race tickets to Talladega. He's got so much fishing junk I wouldn't even think about buying him another rod & reel. The man is a fish-a-holic.
I got a gorgeous red pole last year as part of my birthday gifts ;D lol

I think I agree with Valena here! ((Hugs to purplerose))
I am lucky. Mike came home super late one day. I saw a bag (I knew it *had* to be for me..the bag gave it away, I was very excited..it was very sweet)
He combine mother's day & anniversary for me this year. (MD was 4 days before our ann...YES I had my 4th MD before my 4th ann..heh..) anyway, he remembers when I asked Fr. John about a specific Bible (this was in nov/dec when I asked, and I hadn't mentioned it since then) he bought me the Bible I asked about.
You can all join in & give me an "Awwww!"
Yea, yea I'm spoiled rotten.

Re: Father's Day is around the corner........
My dad's birthday is always on or close to Father's Day and I usually get him a gift card to Home Depot... there's always something there he wants... and with the gift cards from my sisters, too.. he can usually get whatever with little of his own money, if not free. One time I got him this cute thing from Hallmark, guess a big figurine you'd call it.. but it was of a guy sitting at a pond fishing and was pretty nice and he enjoyed getting that. Before my grandpa got sick and would leave the house, my mom sent him Golden Corral gift certificates.. he loved that place and said that was one of the best gifts he always got. As for my husband.. he did good this year and I got some nice jewelry for Mother's Day.. even if I did pick it out, it's what I wanted. I think he's going on a boating/camping trip that weekend with a couple friends, so will have a toddler free weekend.. who could ask for more? He hadn't planned it that way, just the weekend they were all free.. lol.. but still. I would love to have a quiet weekend. Still might get him a little something.
