Re: Does this sound right to you? (about a collection agency)
I'm with everyone else...don't give them your checking account information. I would contact the lender and send them a money order. I would also send the collection agency a cease and desist letter as was suggested earlier.
I'm not sure why you stopped making payments, however. Yes...you weren't getting a monthly statement from them...but you had you cancelled check, or at the bare minimum, your monthly bank statement.
Statements aren't required...they are just a convenience.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

True, but I thought that since we had a payment book before that they would send a new one once we had used all of the payment coupons in the one we had.
Plus we had reaffirmed our account with them when we filed bankruptcy and never heard a thing from them after they agreed to it. No papers on our account, no statements, no monthly bills, no payment book or anything else. It just seemed odd to me and I guess I just wanted to make sure that my payment was reaching them and being applied toward our account.
We don't get our cancelled checks back from the bank although I'm sure we get a copy of one if we needed it for something. All we get are our statements.
What I also didn't understand is when we were late with our payment we would get a notice in the mail. Well that stopped too. I never got a single thing from them when I stop sending payments. I requested several times for them to send me something showing my account info and never got anything from them. It just seemed odd. Maybe they are selling out again?? LOL They seem to do that about once a year.
Thanks for all of the replies!
