    Two questions....

What kind of cake should I make on a low budget for hubby's bday when i'm outta butter and almost outta oil...?

How do I get the black coating on a new wok off? (I tried soaking it in hot soapy water to no avail) I'm thinking of setting it on fire to burn that stuff off

No clue for a cake recipe. Go to recipes.com and search cakes. Good luck.

As far as the 'wok', try just putting it on the stove with a little oil and some water in it and boil. That should loosen it while stirring with a wooden spoon. Again good luck.

My husband loves this cake. I usually use 2 round cake pans instead of the 9x13 and just keep checking till it is done. All the frosting recipes I have call for butter or marg. so I don't know what to tell you to do there except maybe sprinkle powdered sugar on the slices or over the whole cake.

    Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake
    2 cups Flour
    1 cup Sugar
    1/3 cup Cocoa
    2 teaspoons Baking Soda
    1 cup Warm Water
    1 teaspoon Vanilla
    1 cup Mayonnaise

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    Mix together dry ingredients.
    Stir in water and vanilla.
    Mix in mayonnaise.
Spread batter in greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
    Bake 20 to 25 minutes.

"SODA CAKE" silly woman..........lol Everyone loves it

One box of white cake mix
i can of any flavored soda pop
    * mix cake mix and soda together(nothing else added)
    bake at 350 till done

    FROSTING:
    one tub of whipped cream
one smal box of jello the same flavor as the soda pop you used
Mix together the whipped cream and the jello mix and you have frosting

** you can use orange soda and decorate frosting with little manderine oranges.
Total cost for this cake is about $3.00

I finally found the one man not like all the rest!

When my daughter was about 10 yrs. old, she made me a birthday cake from scratch. She and her brother tried to make frosting but it didn't work. So the frosted the sheet cake with peanut butter topped with grape jelly. Best cake I ever had.
