    feeling depressed

I'm feeling depressed today. This is the 6th year in a row that there will not be christmas in our house. This year hubby is laid off his unemploymnet ran out several months ago and has trouble finding anything any other job in between. Last year it was me laid off because the company I worked for went under. I considered myself lucky to have been able to find a part time job, less than 30 hrs a week and just above min wage just barely being able to make ends meet. We worry constantly about our 12 and 25 yr old vehicles hoping they will want to start and run down the road every morning and with gas prices we can barely afford to get to work or for him to go out and look for a job. His medical coverage is on hold while he's laid off and we both have had untreated dental and health probs that we ingore because we just can't afford to go. We both have older parents that we don't want to bother about this because we know the not able to help and all they would do is worry. we're trying to figure out how we are going to tell them we can't get there to visit for the holidays. i work retail and every day i have to watch and listen to all these people making plans and shopping being happy. i just want to curl up and die at the dreaded question i get asked 100 times a day -Are you all ready for christmas? UGH I hate that question! i know there's lots more out there with simular and worse probs than us, I just wanted a good cry

Hugs to you.....I am sorry to say there are so many like you and your dh out there...too many. I know a couple with four kids and just paying the mortgage each month takes up their whole income...I have no idea HOW they do what they do...well, yes, they charge everything.

I hope things get better for you....

Any chance you qualify for medicaid for your dental and health problems? Also, are there any kind of welfare programs you could check into. It's worth a try. Good luck hon. You are one of the 'lucky' ones, electricity, computer, 2 vechicles. Way more than some folks have. Are you on a bus line for transportation? Could hubby drop you off at work to go job hunting so you are only using one vechicle? Maybe he could get something at fast food restaurants?

    Re: feeling depressed

newgranny, I know exactly how you feel. Your post sounds so much like one I wrote just a week ago. Like I told everyone else, last week my hubby got fired from his job for being sick. It was the only income we had coming in and we are trying to pay bills, raise our duaghter and two grandkids on it but it is gone. I worried so, for what I was going to do for food and the necessities, much less Christmas. It was so nice to get the support from my BBS friends, and other family and friends that prayed for us. My husband isn't back to a full time job yet, but we have had an out pouring of support from our close neighbors and friends. My dh is doing some work on my sister's basement and they are paying him some for that, and we had two neighbors donate money and cards to us which has help greatly. Check with your local church for help, and see if your dh can pick up some spare jobs while he is looking for something permanent. My dh works on computers, does dry wall and works on people's cars. Anything he can do to get an extra buck in the house. I would love to work and help him out, because he has lupus, but I'm so busy with taking my grandkids to and from school and picking my youngest daughter up from work, so I know what you mean about the gas too. If you need someone to talk to, you can email me at [email protected]. I wish I could be of more help, but I can listen. I am going to say a prayer for you now.

Anyone who is out of work should find their way down here. We have more jobs available than people to fill those jobs. And we have industries opening up that will pay good wages. Think about moving. It could end up being a great move.
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.
