Yea Im thinking along the s'mores idea. Perhaps some chips? Maybe cupcakes decorated like the 4th? That would be really great cause you always need some kind of dessert! Hope you have fun!

Homemade Ice Cream is always good. And maybe corn on the cob on the grill.

    I made a 4th of july cake

    http://www.kraftfoods.com/jello/main...&m=jlo_feat_rx

    Wave Your Flag Cheesecake
    Prep Time: 20 min
Total Time: 4 hr 25 min
    Makes: 16 servings

    Kraft Kitchens Tips
    You may also enjoy

    1 qt. strawberries, divided
    1-1/2 cups boiling water
1 pkg. (8-serving size) or 2 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Brand Gelatin, any red flavor
    Ice cubes
    1 cup cold water
1 pkg. (12 oz.) pound cake, cut into 10 slices
    1-1/3 cups blueberries, divided
2 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
    1/4 cup sugar
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

SLICE 1 cup of the strawberries; set aside. Halve remaining 3 cups strawberries; set aside.
STIR boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add enough ice cubes to cold water to measure 2 cups. Add to gelatin; stir until ice is melted. Refrigerate 5 minutes or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites).
MEANWHILE, line bottom of 13x9-inch dish with cake slices. Add sliced strawberries and 1 cup of the blueberries to thickened gelatin; stir gently. Spoon over cake slices. Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm.
BEAT cream cheese and sugar with wire whisk or electric mixer until well blended; stir in whipped topping. Spread over gelatin. Arrange strawberry halves on cream cheese mixture for "stripes" of flag. Arrange remaining 1/3 cup blueberries on cream cheese mixture for "stars."

    KRAFT KITCHENS TIPS

    Great Substitute
Substitute JELL-O Brand Berry Blue Flavor Gelatin for the red gelatin.

How about some pickles, olives, cuke spears, carrot curls, cauliflower and broccoli flowerettes w/ranch dressing for dip, cupcakes are best for groups and you can put litte tiny flags on toothpicks in each one. I get them at the grocery store with cake decorations. Mostly just have fun

    Re: Barbaque question

Sliced tomatoes, onions and pickle spears are always a must for our family bbqs. We also always have french fries and/or onion rings. Another really easy and quick thing is 7-layer salad...search allrecipes.com for a few versions.

A really good (cheap) desert is lemon icebox pie. The following recipe makes (2) pies...

    2-cans sweetened condensed milk
    2 prepared graham cracker crusts
    1 c. lemon juice
    16 oz. Cool Whip

Mix condensed milk, lemon juice, and Cool Whip. Spoon into graham cracker crusts and freeze at least 5 hrs before serving.
Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless

    Re: Barbaque question

Oh thank You everyone. I forgot the beer how could I do something as sinful as that. Oh my I also forgot choclate and those deserts oh my I will be bakeing and buying more stuff. Thank God I get my first paycheck tomarrow. lol. I did get 3 foldable picnic tables they said for camping or bbq or beach. they were only $20.00 each . I can store them in the winter with out taking up room and after each bbq I can put them away. I will leave one out for us to use. I can even bring them into the house if we get one of our florida mid afternoon thunder storms. I was trying to think of everything rain sun shine future family get togethers and these fold up for easy storage wont hurt the floors in the house and 3 gives me enough room for 12 adults. kids can have the ground.lol Thank you all so much. I think I am going to pull my hair out before this gets off the ground. at least this is just family and I know the ones I invited will all chip in and do some prep work. I also know they will help clean up. They know if they don't they don't get invited back. this is a family get together so everyone chips in.lol
