What criteria do you look for when accepting /finding online ppl as friends?

I don't do "chatrooms" but some people really manage to finding some very interesting friends that they keep for years online.

It is like I want someone I can relate too, but at the same time someone I can learn fromn as well...you know what I mean?

I just think it can be so nice to have one or 2 friends that you really spend quality time e-mailing and getting to know.

I wouldn't want anymore than a couple of "stranger type new friends" because I'd never take that much time e-mailing 10 people.

I look for someone with a good sense of humor, not a lot of problems, not a whiner, a little quirky and with a positive outlook on life. Someone who is literate and is educated and is interestred in the same things I am. Someone who is passionate about something other than their own day to day existance.

That being said - I do not actively "look" for friends - I don't advertise for them and I wouldn't be comfortable answering ads either. But that's just me. I need to get to know someone for a long time before I trust them with my intimate thoughts and details of my life. Friendships happen - I can't force them to happen.

I agree Danny. On everything you said. (but don't get used to it!)

WHAT I LOOK FOR ARE PEOPLE WHO DON'T
EXPECT ME TO EXPLAIN ANY OTHER FRIENDSHIPS
    TO THEM , WHY SHOULD I ?

    I ALSO AGREE W/ DANNY.
I LOOK FOR THOSE SAME QUALITIES IN FRIENDS.
I HAVE MADE SOME "TRUE" FRIENDS ON THE INTERNET.
    THESE FRIENDSHIPS JUST "HAPPENED".

I met a friend of mine that we have talked for 7 years now on the net. A newfie she is and i think we have both learned a ton of things from each other....I have met other terrific people from the net and several great ones from the board.. I like to watch and observe what people are doing and how they act. Sometimes a bowl of pits can be the start to a wonderful thing.....I used to come home and watch tv nightly and fall asleep watching it......then i got the net and met people and dont watch tv anymore.... The one most thing that impresses me about a person is if they think of others and not themselves all the time.. One who wallers in themselves i think is lost and will have the me me attitude forever. A friend in person online is a treasure to last forever!!!!!

Heeeeeyyyy...I'm not on your AIM list. Oh yeah...we talk on the phone......LMAO!!!

I've met some good friends online. In fact, my best friend and I became best friends only because of being online, even tho we only live about 4 miles from each other! Otherwise, we'd still just be "casual acquaintances". Funny how things work out!
