    Computer Help!

Ok, I'm hoping someone here will know what my computer's problem is. The problem I am having, is that I can't seem to stay connected to the internet. Sometimes I get disconnected after only 5 minutes, sometimes i can stay on for about an hour. But the real weird thing is that when I click on the little icon at the bottom of my screen for the internet, it says I am still connected. But I can't go to any new pages, I just get the "page cannot be displayed" page like you would get if you got disconected. So i have to disconnect from the internet (tho I'n not really connected) and start all over again. And sometimes, when I try to diconnect it, it tells me it's busy, and I can't disconnect right now, and then i have to shut down my computer and start all over. I have run my antivirus over and over, I have installed a program to get rid of any spy ware (I had 69 spyware programs in my computer the first time I ran that!), I have run all the scans in my Norton SystemWorks, and i can't find any problems. Does anyone know what is wrong with my computer? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    ~TIA

If I were you, I would call my ISP. Sounds like something they could talk you through in a jiffy. Most ISP's offer free phone support. I would do that before I started jacking with the settings on my own. Usually only takes a few mins for them to figure out what's wrong.
NEW ! => ISO LIST! please L@@K and see if you have something I need.

I had this problem a few days ago. I have a cable modem. I kept having a window pop up that said I had a virus and to run AVG and I did that several times and AVG wasn't picking anything up. I tried going to housecall and then found two infected files but it said that they couldn't be cleaned or deleted because they were in use. I ran Spy Bot which found a few things but I was still getting that window popping up saying run AVG so finally Friday night I ran Ad-Aware and it found over 130 files. It removed all of the files with no problem. I wish I had thought of doing that before. Everyone says that Spy Bot is better than Ad-Aware so I didn't think running that would help but it did. I'm going to get rid of Spy Bot and only use Ad-Aware from now on.

[QUOTE]i called my ISP and they told me that when you have
    dial up,this will happen
[COLOR=purple]I have never had this problem before, I mean, yeah, sometimes you get disconnected, but this is so bad, it's almost not worth getting online! I guess I'm going to have to call them and see what's up, but if they tell me that, I'll be ticked! I have been running Ad Aware and it usually finds a couple things, but I've deleted everything it has found, and that hasn't helped at all, at least not with this.
[COLOR=teal]But anyways, thanks for all the input. I probably wouldn't have thought about calling my ISP, because I was thinking this was some sort of virus or something, but I'll call and see where I get with them. Thanks everyone!
