Hah. My daughter was born in oct. 99.. and we also didn't check the top 10 list.. but we also named her .. brace yourselves... Emilee!!
Funny thing though, there's no other Emily's at her preschool yet. At least we spelled it a little differently? I don't care. We named her that because we love it.

well, i have a haleigh, ( no one ever spells it right, lol) so after everyone had her name, it thought with the next one, we would pick an old name, rebecca and call her becca. well, there is 2 becca's in her calss and one on haleigh's ball team!! so i did not pick one that would not be used like i thought, lol. but we now have sammy, and i have not yet heard of any. buit we will wait and see.

My older son's name is Nickademus. I don't think it will ever be on any of the lists or in any of the baby name books. It was originally spelled Nicodemus in the bible, maybe it was in the top ten in biblical times LOL

My kids are Shelby Nicole, Wyatt Blake, and Cassandra LeAnn (CassieLee thanks to her brother not being able to say it all and shortening it, which kinda stuck)

My kids wanted the new baby to be a girl and name it Emily Elizabeth (the litte girl off of Clifford is named that so I said NO WAY) and Bob for a boy (as in Bob the Builder I said YUCK! lol)

It's supposed to be a boy and we've decided he'll be Cameron, either Cameron Lucas or Lucas Cameron still gotta figure that part out.

My neices and nephews are Alyssa Carrol, Justin Edward, Kathlyn Marie, Dillon Edward, and Kasey Lynn (because her mom is stupid and wanted to be like Cassie LeAnn... UGH @ in-laws lol)

i got one for you on that!
when i was little after my grandfather sam and grandmother lee, i wanted a samantha lee, so my sil and i are both preggers with her due first with a boy, well, it turns out it is a girl and they have no names picked, so guess what they name her?? so i got haleigh.then i have rebecca lynn. my other sil had a girl 4 moths later and she is laura lynn. ppl can not pick their own names!! but i got my sil bc when sammy was born, i named him james samuel and we call him sammy. so i still got to name one after my grandpa! but it made her mad bc she said we already have a sam and she started calling her sam instead of samantha!
(sorry to take over the thread, lol)

I can't tell you how many people have called me "Linda" when my name is "Lydia." I guess because both start with "L" and end with "a"?

I'M WITH YOU, EMELLE. My name is CHERALYN, should be easy, Share-a-lyn. I get everything from Shirleen to Cheryl Ann, UGH! That is why my dot's name is Casey--easy to pronounce and to spell, and you can get personalized stuff. I would have KILLED for stuff with my name on it when I was little. Please, think before you traumatize your child.

My husband and I have decided that any children we have will have names that are uncommon, but short and easy to spell and pronounce. With an 11 letter Polish last name, anything else would be cruel!

I guess you can imagine all the spellings I've had of my name. Not to mention mispronunciations, lol. BUT I liked having a unique name. Made me feel different and special, kinda. So there are two sides to the coin.
P.S. my name actually IS Sherrise by the way.. that's not just my nickname, lol.
