I need your help with semester term paper, please

For part of my term paper in journalism I have to do a kind of survey online, it's regarding online shopping and freebie boards and people that frequent them. What better place to ask than here? I know you all must have a ton of stories to tell. Any interesting or funny or touching anecdote would be greatly appreciated. Of course I waited till the last minute, draft is due Monday and final copy next Monday. Anything you'd like to say would be great, here's a few questions I was mulling over:

What do your family/friends think about your online dealings? I know I am totally addicted and spend too much time here, the family gets a little upset sometimes.

How did you find the shopping boards? Found the boards by just typing in freebies on Yahoo. Just kinda wandered my way there, from the main site.

How have internet shopping/freebies/friendship changed your life? Not sure, I find it fun to go to the boards, and looking for the freebies and great online deals. My sister tells people all the time what I find. So now, I feel I need to find something even better every week. But I actually find it enjoyable. As for having online friends, I am just as shy online as I am offline. Havn't made any online friends.

Have you personally met anyone from the boards? No, sorry to say, see above remarks, about shyness. Been to this board for a long time now, and I have very few posts.

What was your best shopping deal/freebie/prize? Best prize, my computer that I won. One of the best freebies, when Logitech was giving away 20,000 cordless keyboards and mice. Only took 4 hours to win that.lol How about the worst? Clariol hair dye. Spicy Peach turn my hair pinkish-orange, took two trips to the hair salon, and about 100 dollars to fix my hair. That was one expensive freebie. But no regrets. It was still fun. Best shopping deal, Freeride-two years ago? All those Amazon GC's paid for Christmas that year. That was really great. Oh, the pepsi codes I did, that got me the Fossil GC's, I was able to get a demin stocking for everyone in my faimly for free.

What do your family/friends think about your online dealings? My sister thinks its great, and wonders what she will get in the mail. From time to time, I'll sign her up for something, she got two diapers in the mail yesterday, and thought it was funny. The few friends that I have are impressed, and I'll send them links to BBS.

Are you a member of any other boards or fiercely loyal to BBS? I have to admit, I am a memeber to a few other boards, but......this is by far, my favorite. The first site I got to every morning and the last site I visit every night. People have fun on here, they are helpful to one another. They may have their spats, but they still forgive one another.

What is the nicest thing that has happened to you on the boards? Hmmmmm.....don't know

waterfowl, thanks so much for breaking through your shyness to give me such a great answer, I'm really honored that you replied. I had to giggle at the story of your pinkish-orange hair - remember the free Herbal Essence tint last year? Turned my hair into straw.
You said "People have fun on here, they are helpful to one another. They may have their spats, but they still forgive one another." I totally agree with that, people can be downright nasty on other boards sometimes, but I think people here are pretty mellow. It's funny how each board has it's own personality, isn't it?

How did you find the shopping boards? Through search engines...I found BBS thru another forum now closed

How have internet shopping/freebies/friendship changed your life? The freebies are great. I love the samples, not only does it give me the chance to try b4 I buy, but they sure come in handy. Having someone you have never met but who is willing to send a " pick me up" thru the mail, or email is wonderful. Being able to vent off some steam is great too.

Have you personally met anyone from the boards? I have but not one from BBS yet.

What was your best shopping deal/freebie/prize? How about the worst? Alot of things....I loved the Mario Badescu samples, and some keep coming years after joining a website. I won a DVD player a few weeks ago, but still haven't a clue where it came from...no complaints though.

What do your family/friends think about your online dealings? My family and friends love the free samples I get for them, especially the kids. I have been known too spend too much time online. Oops.

What is the nicest thing that has happened to you on the boards? What is the worst? When I was at my worst just before Christmas last year a wonderfull BBS'r (she knows who she is) sent me a "bumble" from the Rudolph cartoons. My favorite! Made me smile more than I had in a while. Also I got a gift box from several friends from BBS at another good time. I LOVE BBS!!!! I haven't had any bad experiences here....but others from before could get nasty. So I stay here.

What is your fave forum? Off-topic, freebies, deals, reward programs? Off Topic! Deffinately. Followed by freebies. Vent and Whine when needed.

How have internet shopping/freebies/friendship changed your life? it gives me somewhere to vent which larry was thankful for at times..lol. helped me find the best deals on things we wanted.

How did you find the shopping boards? Did a search on google and found a few different sites; this one is the best I have found though.

How have internet shopping/freebies/friendship changed your life? Internet shopping allows for me to find items that are not available to me locally and I find that I am more apt to just buy online anymore since the only local place is Wal-Mart! The local computer stores have their prices way hiked and so I usually go online for anything concerning electronics.

Have you personally met anyone from the boards? I have not met anyone from this board; but have met 4 people from another site that I frequented.

What was your best shopping deal/freebie/prize? How about the worst?Internet shopping: a piece of Alexandrite for my fiance. Best freebie: that is a toss-up from a large roll of photo paper and a menopausal survival kit. Best prize: 2002 Flight Simulator. Have not really had any "worst" since looking for deals on the internet.

What do your family/friends think about your online dealings? Fiance and son think that some of the online dealings are neat (when it pertains to them I am sure). Several friends and acquaintances have asked for sites that I visit so that they can look for deals also.

What is the nicest thing that has happened to you on the boards? What is the worst? Nicest thing: I have met some nice people on the boards that I would like to consider my friends. Worst thing: going to recommended sites that have lots of pop-ups or spy/ad ware attaching to my computer.

I have a couple of kind of cute stories about my online shopping adventures:
I haven't seen my 72 year old Ma in 3 years, but we go shopping together almost everyday. She is the person that told me about BBS.

My UPS guy once recognized me and stopped to deliver a package at a bus stop.

Macys.com sent me a Christmas present!

I have 5 years of toothpaste and shampoo and 2 years of new clothes stashed away for my dot. She's a size 12 now, but I have jeans and tees and sweaters through size 16. She fooled me with shoes though, after stocking up on size seven, my little 12 year old passed right by them to a size 9!

Wingsfan, that is so nice that you have met so many ladies from BBS.
