entirely too much stuff
OK heres the way it is I'm disabled, hubby and son will not pick up anything and they have entirely too much stuff to throw down and no this is not a vent, I've tried everything to break them of the habit buts its a losing battle, but complaining is not going to do me any good. I know some of you on here must have a similar problem, plus the house is not finished so there is a lot of building stuff that we've bought on sale with hubby working full time just hasn't been able to do anything with so heres the problem Organizing it all some of this stuff I find stashed I don't even know what its for so I can't throw it away and all they ever say is Oh don't throw that away I need it so how do you handle the organizing if you don't have a garage or a storage building and then there is the piles of mail coming into the house I try to throw away the junk mail but then there are insurance things in triplicate for everytime I go to the dr I get a bill, statements from 2 insurance companies and then the car and insurance things, receipts, tax stuff, I've got a file cabinet buts its so full now I'm just overwhelmed with all this stuff and there are boxes of papers everywheres. I know I need preofessional help but can't afford it so how do you handle any similar situations? I know some of you are probably organizing pros but I'm a slob at it help!

I know when you look at the whole picture it can seem so overwhelming and messy but you start on a small area and slowly work your way until you can find organization! I have 4 kids so the toys alone are enough to drive me insane! It can be a long process to get organized but once you do it will make a work of difference. If you have the home and garden channel hgtv - they have a great show on called mission organization - they pay pros to come and in revamp rooms and get them organized - but the show gives you so many ideas that you can bring into your own life to help! here is a link to their site so you can look at past projects

good luck!

I start with ONE project at a time as in this drawer or this table. Throw away things and reorganize each for space. I try to clean my closets at least once every month or so. I bet you could get also go thru and get yradsale stuff together. Every little inch of xtra wasted space can be helpful! Good LUCK!

Our new house is designed for us...I have a door to the attic in my work room so I can store everything there!
I have closets for that purpose! There are a couple I am afraid to open.
I don't have any advice since I am horrible at organizing things. I lost our marriage license right before our wedding cause I actually put it away and couldn't remember where cause I never put stuff where it belongs!
Everyone here as given good advice. Take it one step at a time. I usually have to just go through and start tossing stuff or no one here will ever clean it up.
