I would love to have one just so I can get the long distance benefits and have it in the vehicle for safety purposes but here in the mountains we can't use one it just won't pickup a signal so until they install more antennas I guess I'm not going to get a cell phone. I would like to have a prepaid one for keeping in the vehicle but they are so expensive especially since I would only want it for emergencies and never use it otherwise.
Ignorance is bliss but the question is can we afford it?

Me and My Hubby have one but we haven't gotten service for it yet. so it's still in a box but we want to because of the winters out here what if you break down in the middle of the night (we work late hours sometimes) and it's 40 below zero outside you need to have some way to get ahold of someone so you don't freeze to death.
We started thinking about it 2 years ago when a lady went off the road about 30 miles from where we lived she died before any one found her the next day. So were getting service for ours this month.

I have one for emergencies. The phone was free, my hubby use to work at radioshack and he earned it from guess what! Selling so many cell phones! lol I just buy the minutes and they add up, I dont lose them. That keeps it active. It has been very handy! Like when I was in a car accident etc. He has a phone w/ free long distance at night so its cheaper for us to use that instead of our residential plan.

My husband and I don't have one either. I don't want people to be able to get a hold of 24/7

I'm with you, Tyt. Some people are freaking GLUED to their phones, it's ridiculous.

Hubby & I have one cell phone between us, we only use it for *our* convience & safety. Only three people even have the number - and they know it is for emergancy contacts only.

I don't have one. I couldn't afford one even if I wanted one.

Insanity is hereditary; you get it from your kids.

My husband has two, one for personal use and one for work.
My one complaint about people with cell phones is how inconsiderate they are. Like, when you're in a restaurant and cell phones are ringing and people are conversing on them loudly. My husband turns it off when we go in anywhere; and if someone called and left a message, he goes outside and away from people to call them back.

There now: If wackydackydoo + hubby can be considerate why can't everyone? Why can't people turn their frigging cell phones off when they are in a public place? It is beyond rude, it is offensive.
But the living end — the one that gets me going because there is not one excuse that these journalists could possibly have — is when some turkey's cell phone or pager goes off during a press conference. And the last straw came for me when, during NASA's first press conference on the Columbia tragedy, some idiot couldn't even have the basic courtesy to turn off his bleeping cell phone while O'Keefe was discussing the loss of 7 dear souls! Are some of these journalists just stupid? Good God I could have lept into that TV screen and strangled that guy with my bare hands. If I were O'Keefe I would have demanded he be removed from the room.
