What are your views on Diet Pills?

I was just wondering what everyone thought about diet pills. What are some that you have taken that have or haven't worked.

I personaly take Stacker 2. I prefer 4's but they are harder to find.
When i first started taking them i lost 12lbs, yes 12, in 3 days. Quite nice yet very frightening.

If you do decide to take pills, make sure you stay under the watch of a doctor. Diet pills can be quite dangerous to say the least.

I'd never take them. Granted, at my heaviest I was *only* 30 pounds over my ideal weight so it's not like I really NEEDED them, but I would rather lose weight through a lifestyle change of diet and exercise. That does not mean I look down upon those who take them. I'm not in their shoes, I don't know what it's like to be overweight and/or to HAVE to lose weight because one's health depends on it.

So my view on them is that one shouldn't use them for a quick fix and expect to maintain the results without modifying your habits. Some people are under the impression that you can pop a couple of pills and that's that. No. In order to successfully lose weight and maintain that weight loss, one must also change one's eating habits. I have no problem with people taking them to jump start the weight loss, but not look to them for a long term solution.

what were you taking? if you don't mind me asking. lol

I have taken some prescription pills under my doctors care too. Some worked a little for me and some done nothing at all. I would be careful with anything you get over the counter. At least talk to your doctor about it first.

I lost 15 pounds in a month on Phentermine (didn't take Fenfluramine (now banned) , which is the other half of Phen Fen. My doc may start me on Miridia in a month, after he figures out why I have some chest pain (suspects G.E.R.D.). Anyone here on it?? Did it do any good? Lost 15 pounds on Weight Watchers too. In 8 weeks. Then I "watched" it come back!!!
    Got a Scion? PM me!

I can't remember the name of it, but it was an ephedra based pill. That was the only time i had that reaction.

All I can say is be careful on them.. I think the best thing is to see your doctor first.

Last March I had a stroke and they had no idea what caused it. When I went to my neurologist in November, he told me to stay away from ephedrin or pseudophedrin. I was also taking Advil Cold & Sinus which has pseudophedrin in it. And prior to the stroke (which was very minor) I was taking Xenadrin. And in the past I have taken Metabolife and Ignite. Since April I tried taking TrimSpa EF which is supposed to be ephedrin free, but I got very bad headaches from them and just stopped taking them.

I have a tiny hole in my heart that we are all born with but 25% of the populations doesn't close and you may never know you even have it. It is called a P.F.O. (short name) .. I am convinced taking the cold pills and the Xenadrin is what caused a blood clot to go to my brain. The hole is what allowed the blood clot to move. You have to be careful cause you just never know .. and trying to lose 10 or 20 lbs isn't worth your life.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Distance and time may separate us but friendship and memories won't.
