actual headline .... how kind of him to take the time to ... DO HIS JOB !!!!

Obama jumps from campaign to world stage
The president takes a brief break from the campaign trail to address Middle East tensions at the U.N.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will step onto the world stage on Tuesday just long enough to address simmering crises centered on Iran, Syria and the broader Muslim world - and he will then jump quickly back on the campaign trail.

In a speech at the United Nations exactly six weeks before the U.S. election, Obama will seek to reassure American voters as well as world leaders that they can count on him to handle the latest global challenges, even as Republican challenger Mitt Romney seizes the chance to pan his foreign policy.

Obama will talk tough with nuclear-defiant Iran, take Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to task for efforts to crush an 18-month uprising and reflect on a recent eruption of violent anti-American protests in Muslim countries, aides say.

But he is not expected to offer any new solutions to problems that have cast a cloud over this week's high-level gathering at the U.N. General Assembly and now threaten to chip away at a foreign policy record his aides hoped would be immune to Republican attack.

With campaign pressures building in a close race, Obama's final turn on the world stage before facing voters has left little doubt about his immediate priorities.

He skipped the customary one-on-one meetings with foreign counterparts but went ahead with the taping of a campaign-style appearance on the popular television talk show "The View" - a tradeoff that drew Republican criticism.

Obama planned to be in and out of New York in 24 hours, one of the briefest presidential visits to the annual U.N. session in recent memory, and he will be off to the election battleground state of Ohio on Wednesday.

Despite Obama's latest international woes, administration officials are heartened by Romney's own recent foreign-policy stumbles and doubt the president's critics will gain traction in a campaign that remains focused mainly on the U.S. economy.

    FALLOUT FROM ARAB SPRING

Obama will take the U.N. podium after a wave of Muslim anger over an anti-Islam movie swept the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, and an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, claimed the lives of the ambassador and three other Americans.

This has confronted Obama with the worst setback yet in his efforts to keep the Arab Spring revolutions from turning sharply against the United States - and has underscored that he has few good options to prevent it.

The unsettled climate surrounding Obama's U.N. visit will be a stark reminder that the heady optimism that greeted him when he took office promising to be a transformational statesman has cooled.

Obama, in his speech, will face the delicate task of articulating U.S. distaste for insults to any religion while at the same time insisting there is no excuse for a violent reaction - a distinction rejected by many devout Muslims.

"It's a real moment for the United States to assert its values and its leadership role," White House spokesman Jay Carney said.

Obama's U.N. visit also comes at a time of mounting tensions over Iran's nuclear program.

He has refused demands from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to set an explicit "red line" for Tehran. Signaling that a rift remains between the two close allies, Obama said in a interview with CBS's "60 Minutes" program that he would ignore "noise that's out there" and make decisions based on U.S. interests.

Underscoring the depth of the problem, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in New York on Monday that Israel has no roots in the Middle East and would be "eliminated," ignoring a U.N. warning to avoid his usual incendiary rhetoric ahead of the annual General Assembly session.

The White House quickly dismissed the comments by Ahmadinejad, who will address the assembly on Wednesday, as "disgusting, offensive and outrageous."

Obama will use his speech to renew a warning that Iran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, and his words will be scrutinized to see how far he goes in sharpening his tone.

Netanyahu has shown growing impatience over Obama's entreaties to hold off on attacking Iran's nuclear sites to give sanctions and diplomacy more time to work. Iran denies seeking a nuclear bomb.

At the same time, Obama has come under pressure over his cautious approach to the bloody crisis in Syria, where Assad has defied calls to step aside. Obama could use his address to again denounce China and Russia for blocking further U.N. measures.

Campaigning in Colorado, Romney argued that the United States should not be "at the mercy" of events in the Muslim world. "We want a president who will shape events in the Middle East," he said.

Aides insist foreign policy is still a bright spot for Obama. The White House never tires of touting the killing of Osama bin Laden and the ending of the Iraq war. But his record appears to have dimmed a bit with a recent run of bad news.

Still, Romney may have a hard time reaping dividends.

A Pew poll found that while 45 percent of Americans approved of Obama's handling of the attacks on U.S. diplomatic missions in the Muslim world, only 26 percent backed Romney's criticism of his response. Romney was widely accused of opportunism in a national tragedy.

The Middle East is in flames, 30 embassies world wide under siege and this POTUS goes to parties.

    ..

It is difficult to figure out why liberal women want to vote for Obama and his so-called "anti-war on women" and his pro-abortion views. If you look at the big picture of Obama and his background, another four years of his dictatorship will bring a bigger war on women (your husband will TELL YOU about what you can or cannot do with birth control) and as for abortion (your husband will TELL YOU about what you can or cannot do with your reproductive system) and as for rape, that is legal under muslim law and your daughter will be married at the age of five. So all of you liberal women just keeping on the Obama trail and we will see how much freedom you have durng the next four years.
How can educated, intelligent women vote for this person ?

    ..

In his first book Barack Obama attacked greedy white folks. He even recorded it the line. From the book: (page 293, Dreams of My Father).

“It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks’ greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere… That’s the world! On which hope sits!
Obama took the line from one of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s sermons.

    ..

shouldnt it be the other way around? shouldnt OBAMA be taking a break from his JOB to campaign? I thought being the president is what he gets paid to do, not campaign.

    ..

Why is it no one is jumping on Obama for his insensitive, extremely inappropriate, and somewhat ignorant "bump in the road" comment? Yet all we have heard about for the last week has been Mitt Romney's 47% comment. It's been saturated and all we've heard over and over. Not one article, over exaggerated news report, nothing.

Obama’s California fundraising trip irks left and right
    1:51 PM 04/05/2013

President Obama returned to Washington Thursday afternoon from a Democratic fundraising tour in San Francisco that included appearances at four high-dollar private fundraising events and garnered criticism from Washington Republicans and progressive activists alike.

Fury at the President’s Bay Area junket focused on environmental issues, Obama’s comments on the appearance of California’s attorney general, and wasteful hobnobbing with billionaires as the economy is grinding to a halt and labor force participation has plummeted to its lowest rate since 1979.

Obama kicked off his fundraising swing with two events for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in two of San Francisco’s wealthiest communities.

Obama appeared Wednesday at a $5,000-a-head cocktail reception at the $5.8 million Sea Cliff, San Francisco home of investor and environmental activist Tom Steyer and his wife Kat Taylor, a philanthropist who serves on the board of directors of organizations including the Insight Prison Project, which runs programs inside San Quentin Prison that seek to transform the lives of “those impacted by incarceration” through “emotional literacy” programs and yoga.

“We’ve been able to reduce carbon emissions in this country … (and) address one of the biggest challenges of our time — and that is climate change,” Obama said in his remarks at the Steyer fundraiser, noting that he has made his environmental accomplishments despite an “aggressive agenda” by Republicans.

“We’ve got more work to do in terms of dealing with climate change and making sure that we’ve got an economy that is energy-efficient,” Obama added.

Obama has yet to make a decision on whether he will approve the planned Keystone XL pipeline, which Steyer, a onetime top prospect to replace Energy Secretary Steven Chu, adamantly opposes. Steyer has recently funded attack ads against Democratic Massachusetts Senate candidate Stephen Lynch, who supports the pipeline.

Obama later appeared alongside House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi at a $32,500-per-person fundraiser at the home of billionaire Gordon Getty, the son of the late oil billionaire J. Paul Getty, while hundreds of anti-Keystone protesters held signs and demonstrated near the event. “I’d guess pretty much everyone here voted for Obama,” said one anti-Keystone activist who protested the Obama fundraiser. “But he’s not representing us. He just doesn’t have the political will.”

The Republican National Committee released an ad Wednesday entitled “Billionaire Row,” which excoriated Obama for campaigning against the top one percent during the 2012 election, and appearing at billionaires’ fundraisers after his victory.

Obama spent Wednesday night at the Intercontinental San Francisco hotel, where the 2,000 square foot presidential suite has a starting rate of $3,500 per night.

Obama took off Thursday morning for Atherton, Calif., where he appeared at two more DCCC fundraisers. Air Force One landed at Menlo Circus Club, where the president was greeted by approximately 100 more anti-Keystone activists before quickly taking off in his motorcade for the fundraisers.

Obama appeared at the Atherton hills home of Medley Partners Managing Director Mark Heising, where tickets cost $32,400, and then the Atherton home of Levi-Strauss heir John Goldman, where tickets ranged from $1,00o to $20,000.

Obama drew more controversy at the Goldman fundraiser when he joked that California Attorney General Kamala Harris “also happens to be by far the best-looking attorney general in the country.”

“It’s true! Come on!” Obama added.

“Obama in need of gender-sensitivity training” complained a blog for the liberal New York magazine.

While Obama mainly spoke in vagaries at the fundraisers and praised his own direct and indirect accomplishments — noting, for instance, that singer and Getty fundraiser guest Brandi Carlile “got married (to her same-sex partner) the day I announced I supported same-sex marriage” — his appearance with Steyer has generated the most speculation about his potential second-term agenda.

A reporter asked White House press secretary Jay Carney Wednesday aboard Air Force One whether the president’s decision on the Keystone pipeline will be “at all influenced by people like Mr. Steyer, who is hosting the President today?” Carney deflected the question.

Steyer’s recent statements on climate change have been radical and uncompromising, records reveal.

Steyer spoke at the “Forward on Climate” rally on the National Mall in February, where he appeared alongside Green For All founder and 9/11 conspiracy theorist Van Jones and stood on stage behind Canadian-born “Lost” actress Evangeline Lilly while said she was “ashamed of what my country is doing … knocking on your doors with dirty oil.”

“Give it up for Tom Steyer!” said Hip Hop Caucus president Lennox Yearwood in his introduction of Steyer.

“I get the argument for the Keystone pipeline. The argument for the Keystone pipeline is business as usual. We use fossil fuels, we continue to use fossil fuels, we need to transport them. But the time for business as usual has passed,” Steyer said. “We can’t afford forty more years of dirty energy. We can’t afford the droughts, the storms, the disasters,” Steyer said (54:30 of video http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/311046-1 ).

    Obama's Terror Gambit
    By G. Murphy Donovan - June 24, 2013

It seems that the Goebbels playbook is working. Obama fronts the game so well that he dodges any personal responsibility for various lies and administration blunders now in the news. And all of this is OK with the Twitter twits. The buck no longer stops at the top: it stops with the assistant to the deputy assistant's assistant down in the bowels of some obscure bureaucracy. Or maybe amateur video auteurs are at fault.

All presidents have a bumpy ride in their second term and Obama is no exception. But the scope and variety of recent malpractice is astounding. Yet few folks seem to care: the media remains incurious and the wired generation is busy with their Facebook status, Tweets, YouTube, and almost any Kardashian gluetus maximus.

Foreign policy malpractice registers on a global scale. At some point in the first term, Obama went, at least in the minds of most voters, from dithering amateur to decisive statesman.

How did Obama survive a first term that had all the earmarks of a Jimmy Carter rerun? The Democrats lost the House in the mid-term elections and the subsequent health care bill was probably the most partisan, complicated, expensive, and divisive domestic bill ever passed by the US Congress. There were more than a few moments when it seemed Marion Barry might have been better suited to the Oval Office than Obama.

Political resurrection is a hat trick where the timing is often as important as any complicated matrix of explanations. The timing of the Osama Bin Laden kill was surely a defining moment for the Obama reelection. The stage had been set for that iconic Situation Room photo opportunity early in the president's first term. From the beginning, John Brennan had been riding point for a legion of spin masters that included the NSC, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), and the Intelligence Community. David Petraeus and James Clapper incorporated the best, some say worst, of those worlds.

From the outset, the Obama (nee Brennan) doctrine, sought to narrowly define the national security threat as a single man representing and a single small organization, Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda. Never mind that by 2008, government and historical data bases were bursting with dozens of Islamist groups and an alarming tally of atrocities that had nothing to do with al Qaeda -- and everything to do with a global tsunami of anti-Semitism and Muslim terror.

But spin is as spin does. While minimizing the terror threat, the administration was also taking sides in the various intramural Arab blood baths. Indeed, in Tunisia, Egypt, the emirates, Libya, Afghanistan, and now Syria; the Brennan doctrine sides with the Sunni brand of irredentism. In this, the American Left may still be smarting from, or motivated by, the defection (1979) of the Persian Shia during the Carter years.

It's difficult to fathom the blowback from such strategic schizophrenia. If history and numbers matter, Sunni theologians (Wahhabis and Salifists) and Arab jihadists kill more infidels and apostates than all other known terror groups combined. Yet, we are consistently assured by the Brennan doctrine that collaborating with Sunni factions is the "right side of history."

Actually, American foreign policy is drifting to the wrong side, with a tail wind from the European Left. Theocracy is too often the default setting for failed Muslim autocracies. The corrupt seculars of the Ummah are in the crosshairs today. Yet, pandering will not take European and the American social democrats off the imperial religious radar tomorrow. Think of the Twin Towers, Benghazi, and the Boston Marathon as auguries. We are constantly assured that Islam is one of "great" religions while all evidence from global mayhem and misogyny argues otherwise.

Indeed, the principal contributions of political Islam to modern global culture are sexual repression, terror, religious war, and the renaissance of theocracy. How does a culture that rejects, in part or whole; art, science, music, wine, women, and dogs get a place at any table? How does a culture that tolerates honor killings, genital mutilation, misogyny, polygamy, indentured servitude, and child marriage merit the adjective "great" in any context?

The Brennan doctrine coupled with the Manichean assumptions of Islamic dogma would have you believe that we infidels and apostates are "unclean" while Islam is a superior variety of social hygiene. Alas, it might take more than ritual bath to wash such doublespeak from the double think. The West has not confronted religious fascism since the Inquisition. And political "science" (see Fukuyama) assures us that secular fascism is history. So we are left with strange bedfellows; an iconic Muslim martyr who, in death by assassination, saves an iconic American socialist.

Still, let's give credit where due: the Brennan doctrine managed to confine the Muslim threat, in the public mind, to al Qaeda; and at the same time let the Taliban off the hook. Mullah Omar, a semi-literate Sunni cleric that makes Shia ayatollahs look like girl scouts, is still at large. The Leader of the Taliban is never featured in administration "stabilization" spin. And now the Taliban is poised to take Kabul -- again. Karachi, and a ready-made cache of nuclear weapons, is in reach next door.

The Taliban just opened an office in Qatar. John Kerry has granted the worst among a bad lot a seat at the negotiating table. The Taliban shadow government again calls itself the "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan." In this we hear a faint echo of John Brennan suggesting that Jerusalem should be called al Quds. Karzai might now be hung and castrated on the same traffic light that hosted his predecessor, Najibullah. Giving the Taliban any official status anywhere is a little like juggling with nitroglycerine.

And "peace" talks with the Taliban in Doha have to be a kind of black comedy. Arabia and Egypt are the financiers and philosophers of the most virulent Islamism. Any deal made in sharia compliant Arabia will be at the expense of secular Karachi and secular Kabul -- and all women and children in South Asia.

Alas, the West has nothing to offer the Taliban; Islamists are already winning. John Kerry might be looking for some flaccid assurance that the Taliban will stop hosting al Qaeda. Done deal! Pashtuns don't like foreigners anyway, especially rich, decadent Arabs.

The bin Laden kill was not just the tipping point for the Obama rebrand; the Special Forces raid also remade Barack Hussein into a Teflon don, the kind of kind of immunized phoenix that makes places like Chicago and Illinois famous. No surprise then that the victory laps have already begun. And here again, John Brennan and James Clapper are riding point.

Administration strategy seems to assume that the voting public is too inert, lazy, ignorant, and corrupt to care much about foreign policy. In this, team Obama may have their finger on the American pulse

Islamist and American policy objectives are now joined. Both sides are motivated by "regime change." Ultimately, the allied 'transition' will leave Muslim Asia to the tender mercies of the worst jihad on the planet.

Kick Karzai to the curb! Break out the burkas! The world's first theocratic narco-state is a making its debut. Heroin and hijabs are sure to be an unstoppable combination. South Asia is already flying green and black flags.

Washington, London, Paris, and Berlin should be flying white flags.

I recently read a story in the Wall Street Journal that spoke about how posture reflects behavior. This photo did not appear as part of the story, but there was a diagram demonstrating a man in a chair with his feet up on the desk. This is considered a conscious act of showing who is in charge, a form of arrogance. I think of that article every time I see this.

George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan didn't allow you in the Oval Office without a suit coat. Bill Clinton was in there with his pants down. Democrats have never respected the office.

33 Shocking Facts About Obama's Economy Media Shamefully Ignore
    By Noel Sheppard | August 25, 2013 | 11:14

Potentially the most dishonest aspect of the Obama-loving media's reporting since January 20, 2009, pertains to how they've almost totally ignored how poorly the economy is performing.

On Tuesday, Michael T. Snyder, author of the gloom and doom book "The Beginning of the End," wrote a fabulous piece titled "33 Shocking Facts Which Show How Badly The Economy Has Tanked Since Obama Became President": http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/a...came-president

Barack Obama has been running around the country taking credit for an "economic recovery", but the truth is that things have not gotten better under Obama. Compared to when he first took office, a smaller percentage of the working age population is employed, the quality of our jobs has declined substantially and the middle class has been absolutely shredded. If we are really in the middle of an "economic recovery", why is the homeownership rate the lowest that it has been in 18 years? Why has the number of Americans on food stamps increased by nearly 50 percent while Obama has been in the White House? Why has the national debt gotten more than 6 trillion dollars larger during the Obama era? Obama should not be "taking credit" for anything when it comes to the economy. In fact, he should be deeply apologizing to the American people.
Here are Snyder's first five shocking facts:

#1 When Barack Obama entered the White House, 60.6 percent of working age Americans had a job. http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/data/EMRATIO.txt
Today, only 58.7 percent of working age Americans have a job. http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/data/EMRATIO.txt

#2 Since Obama has been president, seven out of every eight jobs that have been "created" in the U.S. economy have been part-time jobs. http://waysandmeans.house.gov/news/d...umentID=345279

#3 The number of full-time workers in the United States is still nearly 6 million below the old record that was set back in 2007. http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2...NS12500000.txt

#4 It is hard to believe, but an astounding 53 percent of all American workers now make less than $30,000 a year. http://www.ssa.gov/cgi-bin/netcomp.cgi?year=2011

#5 40 percent of all workers in the United States actually make less than what a full-time minimum wage worker made back in 1968. http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/a...r-made-in-1968
Please notice that each of Snyder's facts include a link typically to a reliable source supporting his claim.

As you look at the entire list, you have to conclude that if the media had done a better job of reporting the nation's true economic condition, it's almost impossible to believe Obama would have been reelected last year.

Conceivably the worst example of media malpractice pertaining to this president is how the press have done their darnedest to mis-, under-, or just NOT report economic data.

Contrast this with the barrage of excessive, gloom and doom reporting that occurred in the fall of 2008 which basically handed the White House to its current resident.

Looking back, there's no question that the hysteria prevalent throughout the media after Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy was unwarranted.

That's not to say the nation and the world did not experience a financial crisis. Instead, the gloom and doom was greatly exaggerated, so much so that the impact on the markets was far worse than it would have been had the press been more measured in their reporting on the crisis.

    But that wasn't the goal.

Far from it, the modus operandi was to make it appear the world was coming to an end, it was all the fault of George W. Bush and the Republican Party - despite Democrats having taken control of both chambers of Congress in January 2007! - and Barack Obama was the messiah offering his brilliant stewardship to save us all.

Once the media succeeded in scaring the public into voting for the junior Senator from Illinois, the gloom and doom disappeared, and the media immediately changed their tune.

To be sure, the economy right now "feels" much better than it did in the fall of 2008, but how much of that is real and how much is imagined?

Thankfully, the stock market has fully recovered and is now close to all-time highs. Real estate is also doing much better.

However, most honest economists would argue that both crashed far worse than they should have going to absurd discounts as a result of the hysteria.

Beyond this, the easy money policies of the Federal Reserve - including an extended period of quantitative easing whereby our central bank is actually monetizing the debt by buying treasuries in order to keep interest rates at historic lows - are largely the cause for the strong markets.

What this means is that just as economic conditions weren't as bad as they seemed in the fall of 2008, they're not as strong as the markets are indicating today.

And, if the media were honestly reporting Snyder's 33 shocking facts, it seems a metaphysical certitude that public perception about the economy as well as the nation's fiscal condition would be far more negative.

This likely would have made it impossible for Obama to win reelection, and would certainly diminish the public's view of ObamaCare as well as ongoing budget negotiations.

But as long as the press hide the truth about economic and fiscal conditions while reporting a more rosy recovery than is reality, much of the in the dark citizenry will support a president whose policies appear not to be in their interest.

With that in mind, readers are advised to review all 33 shocking facts in order to separate themselves from the uninformed masses. http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/a...came-president

My fave media misinformation is still that--->W was too blame for "squandering the surplus" even though 2001 recession hit one month after he took office, but the Dem Congress taking over in boomtime 1/2007
bear no blame for the recession that began in 12/2007 and the housing collapse of 10/2008.

1 month vs 12-20 months...... ;oD

    ...

There never was a surplus. That was just a figment of the state controlled media imagination. That was put out to bolster the Clinton mystic and try to get algore elected. Notice how fast that BS claim evaporated when W was elected, but resurrected when the Dingy Harry/San Fran Nan recession hit.

    ..

If you showed this to the typical Obama voter, they would say that Obama would fixed all these things but the Repubicans keep blocking him...

If a news network actually confronted Obama with this, he would say the same thing, with some additional comments about the "previous administration"

    ...

I agree Gary. The fact that Wells Fargo is laying off 2,300 home mortgage employees is a sign of things to come. New home sales are down over 13%. All cash sales are nearly 40% of home sales... not your average Joe buying homes.

Total revenues for S&P 500 companies are actually down. The earnings expectations bar has been set so low, it looks like a recovery... it's not. Food stamp enrollment is increasing 75 TIMES faster than job creation. I could go on...

    ..

The old political adage "It's the economy stupid" was thwarted by the MSM's "... not if we don't report it!"

    ..

The media won't bother to do accurate reporting until the journalists fear losing their jobs if they continue to write lies and fail to report the truth. Right now the reward continues to come from sucking up to the socialist agenda.

    ...

It is becoming clear that Obamacare will severely weaken our economy. It will ultimately break the bank if it is not nullified. And, due to the fact that we have a $17 trillion national debt (projected to be $20 trillion when Obama leaves office) and unfunded liabilities that are estimated to be from $70 trillion to $222 trillion, our economy is already severely weakened. The ton load of regulations on businesses created by the Obama Administration has only worsened the problem. We have to vote all of the Progressives out of office in 2014 and 2016 if our country is to survive.

    ..

As you look at the entire list, you have to conclude that if the media had done a better job of reporting the nation's true economic condition, it's almost impossible to believe Obama would have been reelected last year.

    ..

And the Dems want to do nothing except raise the minimum wage, when the real problem is that the only jobs created under Obama are minimum wage jobs. Apparently, Obama's idea of middle class America means everyone works part time...

As the Obama administration keeps interest rates artificially low, they discourage saving. As they raise capital gains taxes, they discourage investment. As they implement Obamacare, they discourage full time employment. As they raise taxes on the businesses, they increase inflation, (business does not pay a dime in taxes, but raises prices to cover this added expense.) As they disconnect unemployment payments from work history, they discourage job seeking. As they make food stamps more widely and easily available, they encourage fraud.

With only a few exceptions, every policy Obama promotes negatively impacts society, especially the economy. By trying to grab more federal control over society and the economy, and hold that control ever tighter, like holding a wet bar of soap, it moves farther and farther out of control, until it eventually shoots completely out of any control in some unpredictable way.

Bush Jr. started it with the bank bailouts. Paulson predicted a new depression, but there is no proof of that. What seems, at this point, more likely is that we would have been hit with a very sharp shock, which would have then begun a recovery. Instead, we are stuck in this economic malaise where the government keeps tinkering, things slowly get worse, the government ignores negative indicators such as food and gas prices going up in their reports to paint a rosy picture, and the average person's quality of life continues to decline.
