The president is not in total control of what happens in our government or we would have a dictatorship. The senate and house have to go along with the president to get any bill passed and vice versa. Majority votes.

You are absolutely right, the problem is they are all (both parties) so corrupt and so busy looking out for the people they work for, like the corporations that contributed to their campaigns, buys them boats and builds on to their homes for free, that us the little guys are forgotten and are often screwed over royally.

And while I know you lean toward being a conservative, you have to be aware that the conservatives in office have been caught plenty of times in scandals over pay offs, bribes and sex scandals, just as much as the democrats.

Also, both parties blame one another constantly for not getting the job done, when in truth they are just playing us, they are doing exactly what they are told to do by their owners. While playing this little game of blaming the other party, to keep us all arguing over democrat versus republican and blaming one another that they continue to get away with. The bottom line is that most of our government is made up of a bunch of crooks, leeches and liars.
Ignorance is bliss but the question is can we afford it?

I knew/know all about this & his stupid involvement with getting the ball rolling on this but you also forgot to do the other side of the coin where even the dems supported this all way up to & including clintoon.

Who hasn't been hurt over this? I have been directly hit because of it & I think most of us on here can state the same. The dems supported this because it would show the world we cared about their problems more so than our own.

Sorry Joulie for side tracking this thread off the original topic.

Now, back on topic. I have a question for anyone to answer. Does anyone realize what caused the great depression? I personally think the government was in a Catch 22 situation with this mess & we all are going to pay for the stupid people who have no brains.

We studied before we bought a home. We made sure that it could stay afloat with just one income. I am so glad we didn't get anything larger then what we have or I would have to be cleaning more.

Once this situation is over, each & every loan officer & stupid home owner who went over their heads needs to be held responsible for this.

I totally agree. They better figure out a way to make good on this stuff. Its total BS that the government "bail them out" of their stupidity.

But you also have to look at a boarded issue too. Look how many people look for a government handout on a daily basis. IE Welfare, food stamps, WIC, government health insurance, corp. tax breaks, FEMA etc. Any time a person wants something they think the government should help them get it.

We all need to start taking responsibily for our own lives. You hear the conservatives saying that they don't want the government's help yeet they will & do use the socialist programs because they are there. That isn't the way to get the government out of our lives. Everyone needs to cut the apron strings or this whole country will be run by them with everything we do.

With every law that is passed, we lose a part of our freedom.

With every government program that is used, we all lose a part of our freedom.

How many on here want government healthcare? Anything they touch, they screw up. Tell me of one program that isn't a mess because of them (government). End all help, make people sink or swim & maybe we can get back to being the great country we once were.

A bull run on stocks and land ventures in florida. Basically people become involved in get rich schemes and when the bottom fell out, voila! You had the run on selling of stock because investors panicked. Kind of similiar to the run on real estate that we have experienced. Now that the bottom has fallen out of it, we are seeing a great chance of the same thing happening again.

Wikipedia has some ideas on the matter.
