If I were a parent I wouldn't let my teen or younger child have a web cam. Picture cell phones are bad enough.

Webcams are a great thing! My DD is 6 and she has one, it's pink, lol! 
But the only people on her Yahoo are me, DH, her dad, all 3 grandmas and her teacher. Those are the ones she uses the cam with. Without the webcam, she and her grandmas and neice wouldn't be to able to see each other, we live 1900+ miles apart. And it's the only way I get to see mymy granddaugher and son.

Admittedly I didn't watch the clip(I have dialup and it takes forever to load a video) I really don't think the webcam made him do it. LOL Where were the parents while he was doing God knows what with his camera? To me the webcam is a blessing. My brother is in the navy and can't come to visit mom(very sick) until mid August. She will however be able to see her son and vice versa before then thanks to this wonderful invention.

We used the cam for my DD's birthday this year and all her far away family got to participate. They got see her open the gifts they sent & talk to her. A regular camcorder can be used for porn or a Poloriod camera. It's called 'supervision'.

They weren't invented for porn but have gone there with pedophiles.
It's great for mature people but teens and little kids should be supervised at all times. Watch and read about the show.
The boy started going online and the pedophiles found him. Started a friendship with him and slowly lured him into doing things for gifts and money. It was a slow process and is done to lots of kids out there.
He went online in private in his bedroom which is really dumb for parents to let him do it. My nephew wouldn't let his girls go online as teens.

You are right,pedophiles are disgusting.However they were around long before we had cameras,internet,etc.We need to supervise and warn our children of the dangers,not just refuse to let them use things like webcams or internet.

The man who finally helped the boy said pedophiles use to talk about how it would be great if they had a way to see kids in their bedroom and now they can.
I agree, it is up to the parents to supervise. Oprah's show is just a warning. Kids don't know how they can be used by strangers until it's too late.
