Caylee Anthony search yields no bones, unrelated items

ORLANDO - The lead investigator in the case of missing Caylee Marie said reports of bones at Jay Blanchard Park is "not a crime scene."

Sgt. John Allen of the Orange County Sheriff's Office said "this is Leonard [Padilla's] operation." He would not answer any questions dealing with the findings discovered by Padilla's dive team.

Diver Todd Bosinski, who is part of bounty hunter Padilla's dive team, showed a reporter some of the items found during the search in the Little Econ River, which included a plastic bag with beads and other trinkets. "I never said it was evidence,'' Bosinski said.

He did not show the alleged bones, adding that the divers were not sure if they even found bones.

A sheriff's official described what was discovered today as "found property."

"There's nothing to indicate it has anything to do with this case,'' sheriff's spokesman Capt. Angelo Nieves said.

Sheriff's officials said they are upset at how Padilla handled the discovery, which drew large numbers of people around the search area.

"Law-enforcement should have been the first to be called and not the media," sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Angelo Nieves said. "At this point, we do not have credible information that would lead us to bring law-enforcement divers to this location."

The bounty hunter was asked to take a lie detector test and he agreed. Padilla was seen getting into a sheriff's cruiser with a deputy. Some of the people who gathered to watch the events cheered the bounty hunter. "Go, Leonard," one said.

Padilla spent more than 20 minutes in a sheriff's car with a deputy. When he emerged, he said he had given a written statement about the day's events and that he didn't think the sheriff's office had any hard feelings about what happened.

A press release from the sheriff's office states that investigators remain "focused on the primary mission at hand, which is to locate Caylee Anthony" and they will continue to "follow up on all viable leads and tips that are deemed to be creditable" in their ongoing investigation.

Caylee Marie's grandparents, Cindy and George Anthony, said they have no plans to go to the park.

"Until we hear from the authorities, it is what it is...just a bag of bones," Cindy Anthony said on a televised interview.

George Anthony said there is "no concrete evidence to say what is over there."

"We believe our granddaughter is still alive and we'll bring her home," George Anthony said. "Everything else is a distraction."

Cindy Anthony downplayed today's discovery, telling reporters that she had just received a tip that her granddaughter was spotted at a McDonald's in Coral Springs in South Florida.

Divers are continuing their search for more clues that could lead to finding Caylee Marie, who has been missing since June.

Rob Dick, who is coordinating the search along with bounty hunter Padilla, said it's unclear if the bones come from an animal or human. The bones were found in the same location where dozens gathered for a prayer vigil for Caylee Marie.

"It could just be garbage," Dick said.

The items appeared suspicious so divers alerted law enforcement to determine whether it should be taken into evidence.

"We just don't know at this point," Dick said.

Padilla notified FBI agents after the divers found the items.

The divers started searching the river on Monday.

Padilla said at the time that he was convinced Calyee's remains were in the river.

Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch, was aggravated with Padilla's efforts and called them a media stunt. Miller is in North Carolina and was unavailable for comment.

His team had scanned the river twice with a sonar and found nothing. Mandy Albritton of EquuSearch said that their searches often find bones during their searches.

But that didn't stop Padilla from returning today with divers.

At a news conference in Orlando just minutes ago, Orange County Sheriff's Capt. Angelo Nieves said whatever was found at Little Econ River had no "evidentiary value."

"There was no bones located there,'' Nieves added.

He said residents should not launch their own search efforts and they should leave such operations to law enforcement professionals. Asked if he was frustrated by today's search by California bounty hunter Leonard Padilla, Nieves said: "It was very improper the way it went down."

'Neck breaking' and 'shovel' among terms Googled on Anthonys' home computer

    http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...,1438518.story

Months before Caylee Marie Anthony disappeared, someone searched on Google the phrases "neck breaking," "shovel" and "household weapons" on her family's home computer.

Someone also searched in March for "death," "inhalation" and "chloroform" on the popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia.

The search history found on the Anthonys' computer was among nearly 800 pages provided Wednesday by the State Attorney's Office in its first-degree murder case against Casey Anthony, mother of the 2-year-old reported missing July 15 and presumed dead. Anthony, 22, also faces several other charges.

The investigative details came the same day a circuit judge denied the state's motion for a gag order. Prosecutors wanted the court to prohibit the key players in the case from talking about the case publicly.

Though prosecutors claim publicity could "sabotage" a jury pool, Orange Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland ruled, "While this argument has some appeal, it does not rise to the level of being a serious and imminent threat to the administration of justice."

The documents released include heated e-mail exchanges between the Anthonys and their extended family, a summary of the investigation and other items. Among the new details:

*Cindy Anthony and her brother Rick Plesea exchanged several e-mails after Casey's July arrest. "I would believe the tooth fairy or ET or Santa before I trusted and believed in Casey," Plesea wrote his sister on Aug. 11.

*Air samples taken from the trunk of Casey Anthony's Pontiac Sunfire were studied by researchers with the National Center for Forensic Science at the University of Central Florida. Samples showed evidence of gasoline vapors, chloroform and compounds known to come from human remains. The findings were not conclusive. These tests were in addition to others conducted by a Tennessee laboratory.

*Casey Anthony's grandmother told investigators Anthony began stealing from her in 2007. She stole a check in August 2007 and spent $54 at Publix. Anthony allegedly stole $354 from her grandfather's bank account in April to pay her cell-phone bill.

*On July 16, the day Anthony was arrested, she and her then-boyfriend, Anthony Lazzaro, exchanged cell-phone text messages. Lazzaro texted: "Y wouldn't u tell me of all people I was ur boyfriend that cares about you and ur daughter." Anthony wrote: "I am the dumbest person and the worst mother. I honestly hate myself."

Yes her foolish parents are standing by the lying murderer. I think her Mother knows exactly where that child is along with Casey. They should have locked Cindy up when she sent a e-mail telling someone that she did NOT give the detectives Caylee's hairbrush.

Florida won't seek death for Casey Anthony

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The state of Florida will not seek the death penalty for Casey Anthony, the Orlando mother accused of killing her missing daughter, Caylee, court records show.

Court documents released Friday by the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's office said it was decided "after due consideration of the facts and law applicable to this case" that it was not in the state's interest to seek the death penalty. The Orlando Sentinel said no further explanation was given in the filing and the state attorney's office declined to elaborate.

Casey Anthony, 22, has been charged with first degree murder. Prosecutors say she disposed of her daughter's body and then failed to report the toddler missing for nearly a month.

Orange County sheriff's investigators have based their case in large part on forensic evidence that a dead body might have been stashed in the trunk of Anthony's car.

Anthony has insisted that Caylee -- who was 2 at the time -- was spirited off by her regular babysitter, although the investigation has turned up no evidence that the sitter ever existed.

Why doesn't that surprise me. What do they mean its not in the states interest? What about justice for Caylee. I bet her so-called mom is happy to hear that.

What's sad is the family knows what happened I'm sure, her mom Cindy is pathilogical liar so the apple doesn't fall far from tree. Casey just feeds on all the publicity of this story, the whole lot of them are crazy as hell, they should of gave Casey more attention when she was a child! This case just screams out to me that Casey needs this attention & is a very spiteful biotch to put it nicely!!!

heck the only time they actually go for the death penalty in cases like this is when the mother REALLY does have diagnosed mental illness........seems like the "normal" ones are more likely to get away with it
    Mom I miss you already
