    Brothel offers customers gas rebate
Wed Jul 9, 12:18 PM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A Nevada brothel is trying to stimulate business by offering free gasoline. Clients of the Shady Lady Ranch will get a $50 gas voucher if they fork out $300 -- worth about one hour's worth of services -- at the brothel in Beatty, Nevada, 130 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

Owner James Davis said he already has had to order another $1,000 set of gas vouchers because the first $1,000 were spent in one week. "It's rocking along. We're doing quite well. June and July historically are not big months," said Davis, who is co-owner of the brothel along with his wife Bobbi, in a telephone interview.

The $50 rebate would roughly cover the cost of a round trip drive from Las Vegas to the ranch. Davis said business at the ranch, which has been operating for 16 years, generally slows in the early summer. He said the brothel regularly offers specials to lure clients and his wife came up with the gas vouchers for this month.

U.S. gasoline prices hit a record $4.08 a gallon last week, up 38 percent from a year ago.

Brothels, illegal in most U.S. states, are legal in parts of Nevada.

    We haven't reached $4 a gallon for 87 octane here...yet!

Jolie... thanks for the article on Rural shopping. That was one of the main reasons we left Alabama. DH was driving one hour & 45 minutes ONE WAY to work in B-ham 5 days a week + the nearest town where you could get a meal & shop was a good 45 minutes away!

I also enjoyed reading on the SPRAWL STALL
I have lived in both the city & the country. Both have their pros & cons., but to me., I'd rather live in the city.
When we lived in Tempe, we lived about 8 blocks from Downtown Tempe., so we rode our bikes or walked EVERYWHERE., to the beach (its really a river), to the bars, to restaurants., grocery stores., movies.. everything was within a short bike ride.
I gained so much weight when I first moved here to TN, here., you have to drive everywhere, I haven't used my bike ONCE in the 2 1/2 yrs we've been here! If I want to ride my bike., I pretty much have to load it in the car & take it somewhere (we have public trails) to ride. Which totally defeats the purpose of saving energy.

Dang, I just read about the dropping gas prices ! I better check Sams and Walmart today... Don't know if all Walmart's do this, but, here, if you buy a $50 gift card, and buy your gas with it, they take off an extra .3 cents per gallon.

Here it is ANY gas purchased using a walmart gift card gets a .03 discount. Do you get a .30 discount on $50 ? That saves you $3.75 - which is *almost* a gallon free at $4.00 a gallon.
