    Spammed and hacked

So this morning I found over 500 spam emails in my Inbox and they just kept coming. Every time I tried to clear them 20 more would show up. This went on over and over. I googled "what to do" if this happens to you, and the first thing they said was to check your accounts using the email account that have money (banks, paypal, etc).

Sure enough -- we only have 2 credit cards and one was used this morning for a $200 charge for some online clothing site. I don't know the place, and I didn't bother to look for it. I just got on the phone to the credit card company immediately. Of course, with this COVID thing so many people are furloughed they only have auto-response. I went through a bunch of menus, then started pressing # -- finally got a live person. By that time I was very nervous -- and his voice kept breaking up. Finally got him to understand that neither I, nor my husband, had charged $200 this morning. It seems as soon as the card was cancelled the emails slowed/stopped.

So I've changed the accounts that have money over to my 2nd email account, and most of the people I have contact with on a regular basis. Everything else I left on the original email. I started changing them, and thought -- I'm still going to have to check that, so as long as I don't have any money transactions using it I should be ok.

Not how I saw my morning going!

    Kathy

Damn shame that you have to go through this. Set up another email account just in case you need to change again.
    Be Happy Now.
