They are going to have to cover the cost of the repair & dress. I watched enough People's Court to know that. If all else fails can you wear leggings or tights to make it work???

so I go in today and see seamstress...she says yep it is crooked, I will fix at no charge...really???...I said it is no to short , she said I can let the hem out the inch I hemed it up..ughhhhh
so after i leave I call back and tell her to make it easier on her and so I can wear it, make it into a top..Otherwise it is just going to hang in my closet...

they would not compensate me for having to buy a new dress or for how long it took....

Time to start calling the BBB......

and start posting on websites , their name, and what happened. Bad press spreads fast on the internet! LOL

Heck, I'd even call the local tv station if they have one of those consumer report segments.

How dare they delay a dress and then mess it up and not take responsibility! Especially when you pick it up only the day before, it doesn't leave you with many options....and then, insult to injury it will be a top? Tops to purchase are much cheaper than buying a dress.....

I'd stand in their shop and talk to all the incoming customers and tell them how irresponsible they are...although I'd probably get arrested too. But announce from the bell towers to all that will listen.....

Unless they are a member of the BBB don't waste your time calling the BBB. The BBB has NO power to do anything other than bug the crap out of them to join the BBB. I would spam the crap out of them on their FB page if they have one and post on my FB about what they did including names and address & phone number. In my area we have a local FB group and if you mess up with one of the residents we will torment the crap out of you. We have forced business owners to step up and improve their service.

It certainly sounds like a place to avoid the next time you need this type of service even if you have to sew it yourself! And DO tell every Tom, Dick & Henrietta how this shop does shabby work and then doesn't stand behind it as well. (If it was me and they significantly improved all aspects of their work/service it would be a cold day before they would EVER get a penny of My money again.)

I am with Sandy BBB will do nothing. They are a for profit business. If the dress was brand new I would tell the dry cleaners to cough-up the money or you are taking them to small claims.
